CHAPTER 39: Officially the last year of my 30s.
Today, I pause with a heart full of gratitude to reflect on the journey so far.
My story began here in Enugu, in Enugu Ngwo, where I spent my childhood and teenage years.
It was here that I first learnt life’s basic values, the importance of family, community, faith, resilience, kindness, and hardwork. The memories of those early years as a young NWATA ENUGWU shaped me in more ways than I understood at the time.
Then came my 20s, a decade I spent mostly in London, far away from home. Those years taught me independence, resilience, responsibility, and survival. More importantly, they taught me one of life’s hardest but greatest truths: that your life is truly your responsibility and, ultimately, you are indeed responsible for your life choices. That you must find strength within yourself, trust God through uncertainties and keep moving forward even when the path ahead is unclear.
Then came my 30’s. My 30s brought me back to Enugu, HOME, where it all began, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
Returning home and serving in the capacities I have done gave me something priceless: the opportunity to contribute, in my own way, to the growth of my community, my Local Government Area, and Enugu at large.
It has been a decade of mixed experiences, lessons, service, building friendships, successes, disappointments, stretching, and above all, internal growth and resilience of mind.
I have experienced success and I have experienced failure, and somewhere along the journey, I learnt an important truth: both are an integral part of my life story. Success teaches, failure humbles, and together they have shaped my person and helped my mental growth.
I have found peace in understanding that life is not always perfect, that not every prayer is answered immediately or even ever answered, not every door opens when you knock, and not every plan unfolds the way we imagined.
Yet, through every high and every low, I remain eternally grateful, grateful for being alive and for everything God has done for me.
I thank God every day for surrounding me with the most loving and kind family who continue to love, support, and stand by me through life’s uncertainties.
Along the way, I have also made friends who have become family. Met Bosses who have become Mentors and Guardians, contributing in immeasurable ways in shaping my life path. For this I am deeply grateful.
And so, as I gradually log out of my 30’s, my heart is filled with contentment and gratitude. I am grateful for the life journey, for the memories created so far, for the lessons learnt, for moments of victory, for disappointments and failures that eventually became Gods direction to better paths, for family, for friends, and for every person God brought to shape my life path in my 30’s.
I do not know what the future holds, but I am grateful for the road travelled, I say thank you to everyone who has contributed, in one way or another, to the experiences, lessons, and story of this remarkable decade.
Above all, Chapter 39 is beyond celebrating another year, it is about celebrating living through a decade, embracing life, learning life’s lessons and accepting the uncertainties of life.
I pray for the grace to remain committed to the journey of becoming a better version of myself each day, wiser, kinder, stronger, more intentional, and more grounded in faith and internal convictions.
With every lesson, every success, every setback, and every blessing, I choose to keep learning, unlearning, growing through it all and trusting God all the way.
I’m looking forward to stepping into the 4th Floor.
