Today, Tuesday, September 3, 2024, I had the privilege of paying a courtesy visit to the newly resumed Executive Chairman of Kajola Local Government, Alhaji Honourable Mustapha Akeem Olawale. The visit was an opportunity to congratulate him on his new role and express my support for his administration.

I was accompanied by distinguished personalities, including Hon. Micheal Baba Tunde from Atisbo, Hon. Ayo Olopoeniyan, Oyo State AANFE Chairman, Chief Adekunle Tamwa, PDP Iseyin, and Comrade Olugbenga George Adetunji (O.G.A), Kajola.

We were warmly received by Chairman Alhaji Akeem Mustapha, who expressed his appreciation for the visit and his commitment to serving the people of Kajola. The visit was a great opportunity to discuss ways to collaborate and work together for the development of our local government.

I wish Chairman Alhaji Akeem Mustapha and his team all the best in their new roles and look forward to seeing the positive impact of their leadership on our community."

PREAMBLE

Dear Esteemed Patriots.
Without a doubt, the ancient city state of Oyo presently faces great and grave challenges. Hence, the need for bold ideas, innovation, creativity, and sincerity of purpose for real change becomes imperative. More than ever before our beloved state needs to hear the truth from its leaders.

The truth is that as a people we face the same choice we have always faced in difficult times. Shall we continue in that directionless path we have travelled in our recent past? Or are we ready to change direction and move boldly into the future for the sake of our children, if not for ourselves? The choice remains ours.

Dear patriot, as a fellow believer in the Oyo dream, as a stakeholder and as a voter, you are a guardian not only of what kind of legislators we will have, but what kind of future we will leave for our children. You deserve real substance, not mere rhetoric.

I present to you my inspired vision and mission, as well as, my proposal to stand up for the substitution of rule of law for the rule of force in every aspect of our life; standing up for middle-class families and the down trodden; building a better future for the next generation; recharging our commitment to innovation; enhancing social development through clear-cut agenda for our women, the elderly, the youth, as well as, the physically challenged.

VISION
To the ever progressive people of Kajola state constituency and the millions of Oyo people, do I offer to devote and dedicate myself in service, to work assiduously with other genuine democrats, responsible legislators, leaders of thought and statesmen/women for the pursuit of the common good, i.e. the inalienable rights of the citizenry to social welfare, economic security, healthy environment, the protection of our common heritage, our political sovereignty, and the overall development of Oyo state. It is instructive to note that; your vision is my vision.

MISSION
Given the unique position of the legislature as a veritable instrument for the survival, defence, and sustainability of any democratic enterprise, I, Comrade Olugbenga George Adetunji (OGA), if given the democratic mandate to represent the good people of Kajola constituency of Oyo state, hereby, solemnly pledge to dedicate and commit myself, my resources, my time, my political influence, my deep administrative and diverse experience as a former students union leader, pro-democracy activist, educationist, business administrator, successful realtor, in pursuit of noble legislative ideals, principles and policy decisions. Through responsive and responsible legislations, I intend to attain the under-listed broad mission:

OGA AGENDA FOR ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNANCE:
To establish a paradigm shift from the old order where there is an obvious disconnect between the government and the governed, and usher a new order where government can be easily and readily accessible. To run an open door policy, which places the government within close proximity with the people. To also pursue an undiluted commitment to good governance through effective and quality representation.

OGA AGENDA FOR WOMEN:
To ensure that women can make choices in their lives with dignity and can fully participate in the society, as equals, through engineering deep and profound commitment to the issue that matter most in women’s lives, from health care, to poverty, to cultural limitation, to employment and the family

OGA AGENDA FOR THE YOUTH:
Conscious, sincere, and organized efforts to ensure the immediate, realistic and comprehensive response to the challenge of restoring the hope of our youth (including the students) in the Nigerian dream. To give a voice to the youth of our community. To empower the youth and make them assume their position in the society as the productive stratum of our demographic structure.

OGA AGENDA FOR THE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED:
To do all within my legislative capacity to break down barriers for people with disabilities that separate them from opportunities at school, at work, and at home through the pursuit of a social system where every person has the chance to live up to his/her potential.

OGA AGENDA FOR THE ELDERLY:
To commit to helping the elderly in the state live independently, with choice over their health care, financial security, and lifestyle. To ensure that people do not only live longer but also live stronger.

OGA AGENDA FOR SMALL TOWNS AND VILLAGES:
To pursue legislation and policies that seek to strengthen small town schools by addressing teacher shortages with higher pay, and university scholarships for students who commit to teach in rural schools upon graduation. Undivided attention to farms and small businesses that have suffered neglect and unfair competition, respectively, through encouraging investment of seed money for rural recovery by creating Rural Economic Advancement Challenge (REACH) fund. Also, to ensure the presence of the state government in rural communities that have been hitherto, abandoned and neglected.

CONCLUSION
The above listed and many other germane issues form the crux of the philosophical principles, intents and convictions underlying my political aspiration into the Oyo state house of assembly.

It is my candid believe that, I, most significantly, owe myself, my people and my state a huge moral obligation to ensure that our hard-won democracy does not collapse or recede to the shores of irreparable damage. Inspired by this patriotic responsibility that history beckons on me, I, most humbly, seek your understanding and support towards this collective vision, which is a roadmap to our progress. A vision that is borne out of a burning passion for meeting the genuine aspirations and interests of a sizeable community in particular and the entire Oyo state in general. This is a vision for which I have vowed to deplore my knowledge and experience in defence of the people, knowing fully well that today’s efforts are tomorrow’s legacy; today’s facts are tomorrow’s legend, and today’s stories are tomorrow’s history; for tomorrow belongs to those who can see it today.

I carry the promise of the great Oyo empire in my heart, where my parents, past heroes and founding fathers placed it. Like them, like you, I believe in people, hard work and the sacred obligation of each generation to the next, God being on our side.

This is our time now. It falls on us to redeem our democracy, reclaim our government and relit the promise of our society for our children.

I am so relentlessly optimistic about what we can do if we work together. Let us keep faith and together, redeem our beloved state’s promise and our children’s future.
