When Voting, Vote Antecedents – ADC Chieftain
As Nigeria prepares for future electoral cycles, it becomes increasingly important to remind ourselves of a simple but powerful truth: the quality of leadership we get is a direct reflection of the choices we make at the polls. And in making those choices, one principle must guide us Antecedents.
Antecedents represent the true identity of any candidate. They reflect past records, experience, credibility, and commitment to service. In a democratic system, they remain the most reliable indicators of what a candidate is capable of delivering when entrusted with public office.
As a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and a serving member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, I have witnessed firsthand how leadership rooted in experience and service can transform communities. I have also seen the consequences of choices driven by sentiment rather than substance.
Elections should go beyond political parties. While parties provide platforms, it is the individuals within those platforms that ultimately determine the quality of governance. This is why I strongly advocate that voters must prioritize competence over convenience, and performance over popularity.
The good people of Ibadan NorthWest, Ibadan SouthWest, and indeed the entire Oyo State must begin to ask the right questions before casting their votes. What has this candidate done in the past? What impact have they made in their community? Do they have a track record of empowering others, creating opportunities, and standing up for the people?
These questions are not just important, they are necessary.
In my own journey in public service, I have remained committed to grassroots development through empowerment initiatives, youth engagement, and community-based programmes aimed at improving livelihoods. These efforts are not mere promises; they are part of a track record that I believe should define leadership.
As I present myself as a hopeful for the Ibadan NorthWest/Ibadan SouthWest Federal Constituency, my conviction remains that leadership must be earned through service, consistency, and accountability.
Democracy thrives when voters are informed and intentional. The power of election lies with the electorate, and when that power is exercised wisely, it produces leadership that reflects the true aspirations of the people.
I therefore urge all eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stay engaged in the political process, and most importantly, vote wisely.
Let us move away from empty promises and embrace proven performance. Let us choose leaders based on what they have done, not just what they say they will do.
In the end, the future of our constituency, our state, and our nation depends on the decisions we make today.
When Voting, let us vote Antecedents.

Why I Left PDP – Hon. D-Al-Ameen
By Hon. Dr. Dawood Akanni Olalere (D-Al-Ameen)
My political journey has always been guided by one principle: service to the people. Leadership, in my understanding, is not about titles or political labels but about the ability to represent the aspirations of the electorate and deliver meaningful development to the grassroots.
Over the years, I have been privileged to serve the good people of Ibadan North-West as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, where I have remained committed to empowerment programmes, youth development initiatives, improved security, and infrastructural support across the constituency. From regular empowerment schemes for traders and artisans to initiatives aimed at equipping young people with digital and vocational skills, the goal has always been to uplift lives and create opportunities.
However, politics must also be built on fairness, inclusion, and respect for supporters who invest their time, loyalty, and energy in a political movement. My departure from the Peoples Democratic Party was not driven by anger or desperation, but by the realities within the local political environment and the concerns raised by many of my supporters in Ibadan North-West.
Many of those who have stood firmly with me over the years began to experience challenges within the party structure at the local level. As a leader, I could not ignore their concerns. The responsibility I owe to my followers and constituents compelled me to reflect deeply on the best political path forward.
Beyond the local dynamics, the evolving political situation at the national level also played a role in shaping my decision. After careful consideration and consultations with my supporters and stakeholders, I decided to continue my political journey on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
This decision was taken in the interest of strengthening grassroots participation and ensuring that our political movement continues to grow with the support and involvement of the people. After all, the true power in any election lies with the electorate.
Despite the change in political platform, my dedication to the people of Ibadan North-West remains unwavering. The trust they have placed in me continues to inspire my efforts in promoting empowerment, job opportunities, and development within the constituency.
At the same time, I believe governance should always transcend party lines. It is therefore important to acknowledge the leadership that has helped sustain progress in our state. I must commend the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, for his continued commitment to development and for creating opportunities that have enabled many citizens, including those from my constituency, to secure employment and improve their livelihoods.
I also appreciate the leadership of the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, whose inclusive and cooperative approach has ensured a productive legislative environment where members are able to contribute meaningfully to governance.
As I move forward in this journey, I remain deeply grateful to my supporters and loyal followers who have stood by me through every phase of my political career. Your belief and encouragement continue to strengthen my resolve.
I extend my sincere appreciation to the good people of Ibadan North-West, Ibadan South-West, and indeed the entire Oyo State for their goodwill and continued support.
Together, we will continue to work towards a future defined by empowerment, opportunity, and people-centred leadership. The journey continues, and with the support of the people, the future remains bright.

RAMADAN 1447AH: EKOTEDO MUSLIM COMMUNITY LECTURE – A CALL TO THE LIGHT
Yesterday, I had the honour of hosting the Ramadan Lecture of the Ekotedo Muslim Community in my capacity as Aare Musulumi of Ibadan Northwest, a responsibility that falls within my jurisdiction as the elected representative of our people at the Oyo State House of Assembly.
The well-attended and spiritually uplifting programme, organised by the Ekotedo Muslim Community, featured two distinguished Islamic scholars — Alhaji Sheikh Abd-Lateef Morisekola and Al-Imam Muheez Tantawi — who delivered powerful lectures on the theme: “The Way to the Light.” Their messages centred on righteousness, faith, unity, and steadfastness in the path of Allah.
I used the occasion to sincerely appreciate the good people of Ibadan Northwest for the continued show of love, trust, and overwhelming support towards my representation at the State Assembly. Your encouragement strengthens my resolve to serve diligently and selflessly.
As part of activities marking the event, gifts were presented to 30 adults and children who participated in the Quiz Competition organised by the Muslim Community and proudly sponsored by the Aare Musulumi of Ibadan Northwest Local Government. It was inspiring to witness our young ones display sound Islamic knowledge — they are indeed the future of our Ummah.
I also advocated strongly for unity, love, and cooperation among members of the Muslim Community, the Christian Association, and all residents of Ekotedo and Ibadan Northwest. Our diversity remains our strength, and together we can build a peaceful and prosperous constituency.
I pray that this blessed month of Ramadan brings spiritual renewal, enlightenment, and abundant blessings to the entire Muslim Ummah in Oyo State and beyond.
Ramadan Kareem.

As a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, I appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde following the presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill at the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly.
I lauded the governor for the steady development across Oyo State and for sustaining stability within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He noted that the administration’s commitment to infrastructure, human capital development, and economic expansion continues to inspire confidence among citizens and stakeholders.
However, I used the occasion to draw attention to several key road networks requiring urgent government intervention in Ibadan NorthWest. He appealed to the governor to consider the following community-impacting rehabilitation projects:
• Adamasingba road link to Oke Padre
• Omitowoju road link to Adamasingba
• Inalende–Atowoda road link to Salvation Army

It was a great honour to grace the Maulud Nabiyy Celebration — a blessed commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) — organized by Oloye Benedict Akika, the Agbaakin of Olorunda Abaa, and the Omituntun Benedict Forum (OBF).
