The cassava regeneration field, at one and two months of growth, contains various cassava species identified by their unique accession numbers.
The IITA Genebank carries out annual regeneration of the cassava field to ensure the proper maintenance of the different varieties of this important staple crop.

Dr. Adeniyi Adedoyin, Director of Agricultural Affairs at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in Abuja, paid a visit to the Genetic Resources Center at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan, Nigeria. The visit highlighted the vital role of modern agricultural technologies in advancing food security across Africa. He also emphasized the Federal Government's commitment to collaborating on agricultural sustainability in Nigeria and across the continent. Dr. Adedoyin praised the Genetic Resources Center as a cornerstone of innovation and commended the staff for their outstanding presentations.

Seed cleaning and conformity is a section in the Genebank that specialized in elimination of broken seeds and ensured it’s true to type by matching the seed file with the harvested seeds from the field or screen house. Maintaining standard operation procedure to safeguard Genetic diversity is our priority.
