Chapter 1: Coffee Chaos and Chance Encounters
Lena Susan's morning began with the shrill cry of her alarm clock, a sound that felt more like a personal affront than a gentle nudge to start the day. She groaned, blindly swatting at the snooze button, only to knock her phone off the nightstand. It clattered to the floor, the screen flashing a reminder: "Meeting at 9:00 AM – Jace Walker Session."
"Great," she muttered, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. "First day working with a pop star, and I'm already off to a stellar start."
Her small apartment was a testament to organized chaos. Sheet music and lyric notebooks were strewn across the coffee table, a half-eaten granola bar balanced precariously on top. She navigated the minefield of discarded clothes and empty coffee mugs, making her way to the kitchen.
The coffee machine sputtered to life as she rummaged through the fridge for something resembling breakfast. A lone yogurt cup stared back at her. She grabbed it, only to discover it had expired two weeks ago.
"Breakfast of champions," she sighed, tossing it into the trash.
With a steaming mug of coffee in hand, she attempted to multitask—checking emails, reviewing song notes, and applying mascara—all while mentally rehearsing her introduction to Jace Walker. The Jace Walker. Pop sensation, Social Media regular, and now, her new collaborator.
She'd been hired to help him write songs for his comeback album, a gig that could catapult her career into the stratosphere. No pressure.
As she slipped into her favorite jeans and a vintage band tee, she glanced at the clock. 8:15 AM. If she left now, she'd be able to get past traffic in her car and make it to the studio with a few minutes to spare.
Grabbing her bag, she took one last sip of coffee—only to spill it down the front of her shirt.
"Seriously?" she exclaimed, dabbing at the stain with a napkin. "This is not happening."
A quick wardrobe change later, she was out the door, sprinting down the stairs to the parking lot. The city was already buzzing with activity—honking cars, barking dogs, and the distant wail of a saxophone from a street performer as she drove past.
She arrived at the studio with seconds to spare, her heart pounding and her hair slightly disheveled. Taking a deep breath, she stepped inside.
The lobby was sleek and modern, with minimalist decor and a receptionist who looked like she belonged on a runway. Lena approached the desk, trying to appear composed.
"Hi, I'm Lena Susan. I'm here for the 9:00 AM session with Jace Walker."
The receptionist gave her a once-over, then nodded. "Studio B. Down the hall, third door on the left."
"Thank you," Lena replied, her voice steadier than she felt.
As she made her way down the hallway, she rehearsed her introduction once more. "Hi, I'm Lena. It's such an honor to work with you." No, too formal. "Hey, Jace. Big fan. Can't wait to jam." Too casual.
She reached the door to Studio B and paused, taking a deep breath. This was it.
Opening the door, she stepped inside—and immediately collided with someone.
"Whoa!" a voice exclaimed as they both stumbled backward.
Lena looked up to see a man in his early thirties with tousled brown hair, striking blue eyes, and a smile that could melt glaciers.
"Sorry about that," he said, steadying her. "Wasn't expecting anyone to be right there."
"No, it's my fault," Lena replied, her cheeks flushing. "I should've knocked."
He extended his hand. "I'm Jace." Also noticing her beautiful but chaotic self
"Lena," she said, shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you."
"You're the songwriter, right?"
"That's me."
"Cool. I've heard good things."
"Likewise," she replied, trying to keep her cool.
They entered the studio together, the room filled with instruments, recording equipment, and a cozy couch in the corner. Jace gestured for her to take a seat.
"So, Lena," he began, settling into a chair opposite her. "Tell me about your process."
She smiled, grateful for the icebreaker. "Well, I usually start with a melody or a lyric that resonates with me. Then I build the song around that."
"Interesting," he said, nodding. "I tend to start with a beat or a chord progression."
"Maybe we can combine our approaches," she suggested.
"I like that," he replied, as he winked at her
Throwing Lena off guard a little but she remained composed as she shook of the thought that this Music sensation was flirting with her
They spent the next hour discussing musical influences, favorite artists, and their visions for the album. The conversation flowed easily, punctuated by laughter and shared anecdotes.
At one point, Jace picked up an acoustic guitar and strummed a few chords. "What do you think of this progression?"
Lena listened, then hummed a melody. "That could work. Maybe something like..." She sang a few lines, the lyrics forming spontaneously.
Jace grinned. "That's brilliant. Let's build on that."
As they collaborated, Lena found herself increasingly at ease. Jace was charming, yes, but also genuine and passionate about his music. It was a refreshing contrast to the public sensationalist she'd expected.
By the end of the session, they'd sketched out the beginnings of a song—an upbeat track with heartfelt lyrics and a catchy hook.
"This is going to be a hit," Jace declared, high-fiving her.
Lena laughed. "From your lips to the charts."
As they packed up, Jace turned to her. "Same time tomorrow?"
"Absolutely," she replied, her heart fluttering.
Walking out of the studio, Lena couldn't help but smile.
She got home, exhausted she flinged her purse on the table as music sheets flew off raining on the floor caring less she sat on the soft sofa in the living room dailing her friend Amira
“Hey girl, sup” Amira’s voice rang through the phone
“ Nothing much but me having to be in the same room with Jace freaking walker” Lena squealed like an excited four year old child despite her tiredness
Her words brought about the same reaction from her best friend
“O-M-G!!!!, WHAT!!!”
“How did that happen?” Amira asked
“Well, I got a job at onyx record label to be Jace walker’s song written to set things straight we have become collaborators!” Lena rambled
“Wow, tell me how it went” Amira said excitedly
“Well….”
The day had started with chaos, but it had led to an unexpected connection—and the promise of something more.
