EASTER 2026: RENEWING FAITH, DEEPENING UNITY, SUSTAINING HOPE

I extend warm greetings and sincere goodwill to our brothers and sisters in Kaduna State, across Nigeria, and around the world as you commemorate the sacred season of Easter.

Easter is a solemn remembrance of the suffering, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ; an enduring testament to sacrifice, redemption, and the triumph of hope over despair. It invites not only celebration, but also quiet reflection on the deeper meaning of faith, love, and the promise of renewal.

Over the past forty days, the Lenten season has offered a pathway to spiritual introspection through prayer, fasting, and self-denial. It has been a time to draw closer to God, to cultivate humility, and to renew commitment to lives marked by compassion, service, and moral clarity. The resurrection, which Easter proclaims, stands as a powerful assurance that even in the midst of trials, restoration is possible and hope remains alive.

This message carries profound relevance for us all. In times often shaped by uncertainty and division, Easter reminds us that peace can overcome discord, and reconciliation is always within reach. It calls on us to rise above bitterness, to mend what is broken, and to embrace our shared humanity with sincerity and grace.

This year’s observance of Lent coincided with the holy month of Ramadan, during which our Muslim brothers and sisters devoted themselves to fasting, prayer, and acts of charity, culminating in the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. This convergence of sacred seasons is both meaningful and instructive. It reminds us that across our different faiths, we are united by enduring values: devotion to God, discipline, compassion, and a shared responsibility to uplift one another.

Our beautiful and rich diversity in Kaduna State must remain a source of strength, not division. It calls us to a higher responsibility; to foster mutual respect, deepen understanding, and build enduring bonds of trust. The peace and progress we seek as a state depend on our collective commitment to coexistence and unity.

In recognition of the role of faith in shaping society, our administration continues to support initiatives that promote spiritual growth and inclusiveness. The restoration of Christian pilgrimage after over a decade reflects this commitment. This year, fifty pilgrims from Kaduna State undertook a sacred journey to Jordan and Israel during the Lenten season, allowing them to engage deeply with the spiritual significance of this period.

We remain grateful to Almighty God for His protection over them, especially in a time of global uncertainty. Their safe return and exemplary conduct are a source of pride and a reminder that moral and spiritual investments yield lasting dividends for our society.

As a government, we will continue to encourage efforts that strengthen ethical values and social harmony. We believe that a people grounded in faith and guided by conscience are better equipped to build peaceful, resilient, and prosperous communities.

The message of Easter also speaks to the essence of leadership and citizenship. The life of Jesus Christ exemplifies humility, sacrifice, and service: virtues that must guide all who hold positions of responsibility. Our administration remains committed to the ideals that will uplift the vulnerable, expand opportunities for our youth and women, and improve access to education, healthcare, and economic empowerment across our state.

As we look ahead, I urge all citizens to approach civic responsibilities with wisdom, restraint, and a commitment to the common good. Let us reject divisive tendencies and uphold the values of peace, respect, and shared purpose that bind us together.

At this sacred time, I encourage our people to embrace the deeper meaning of Easter; not only in celebration, but in renewed dedication to lives of integrity, compassion, and service.

On behalf of the Government and people of Kaduna State, I wish you a blessed and reflective Easter. May its message of hope and renewal inspire us all to work together in building a peaceful, united, and prosperous Kaduna State.

Happy Easter, and may God bless Kaduna State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

REMEMBERING OUR FALLEN HEROES, RENEWING OUR RESOLVE FOR A UNITED NIGERIA

BEING MESSAGE BY THE GOVERNOR OF KADUNA STATE,
HIS EXCELLENCY SENATOR UBA SANI, CON, ON THE OCCASION OF THE 2026 ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY, JANUARY 15, 2026

Today, we assemble as a people bound together by memory, sacrifice and shared destiny to observe the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day. This solemn national moment calls upon us to pause, to reflect with humility, and to honour the brave men and women who laid down their lives so that Nigeria might endure in unity, peace and freedom.

2. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is deeply rooted in history and rich in meaning. Though its origins may be traced to the Commonwealth Armistice Day, its significance in Nigeria is uniquely profound. January 15 stands as a solemn marker of the end of the Nigerian Civil War in 1970, a defining chapter when unity prevailed over division and the survival of our nation was secured through extraordinary sacrifice.

3. This date reminds us that Nigeria’s unity was not accidental, nor was it cheaply attained. It was earned at great cost. Today, we honour Nigerians who fought in the First and Second World Wars, those who served during the Civil War, our peacekeepers who carried the nation’s flag across continents, and the gallant men and women who continue to defend our sovereignty in ongoing internal security operations.

4. As wreaths are laid and moments of silence observed, we remember not only the fallen heroes but also the living veterans, men and women who returned bearing the scars of service, as well as the families who continue to live with the pain of loss. Their courage and resilience remain the bedrock upon which our collective freedom stands.

5. Kaduna State observes this day with particular reverence. Our state occupies a distinctive place in Nigeria’s defence architecture, hosting some of the nation’s most important military institutions, training academies, command centres and operational bases. These establishments are enduring symbols of professionalism, discipline and national strength.

6. By virtue of this historic role, Kaduna State has long shared both the honour and the burden of national security. Our communities have witnessed, first hand, the bravery and resolve of our Armed Forces as they confront terrorism, banditry, insurgency and violent criminality, often at immense personal cost.

7. Nigeria continues to face complex and evolving security challenges. Yet, even in these demanding times, our Armed Forces, working alongside paramilitary agencies, intelligence services and community based security structures, have remained resolute. They defend lives, reclaim territory and restore hope in places where fear once threatened to take root.

8. To our serving officers and soldiers, we say clearly and without reservation that your sacrifices make it possible for millions of Nigerians to sleep peacefully and pursue their livelihoods. Your courage on the frontlines is the shield that protects our democracy, our economy and our future.

9. We commend the Armed Forces for their unwavering loyalty to constitutional order and civil authority. For twenty seven unbroken years, Nigeria’s democracy has endured, strengthened by a professional military that understands its duty and submits faithfully to elected civilian leadership. This tradition remains a pillar of our national stability.

10. Under our administration in Kaduna State, we have taken deliberate steps to support security operations. Through strategic collaboration, logistics assistance, intelligence sharing, community engagement and welfare support, we continue to affirm our conviction that security is the foundation upon which sustainable development must stand.

11. We deeply appreciate the growing synergy between the Kaduna State Government and the nation’s Armed Forces under the able leadership of a tenacious Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR. This partnership has yielded measurable improvements in security across our communities and demonstrates that when government and security institutions work together in trust, peace becomes achievable.

12. To the youth of Nigeria, this day is not only about remembrance; it is also a call to conscience. Armed Forces Remembrance Day speaks to patriotism, discipline, service and national responsibility. The future of Nigeria rests on your commitment to unity, justice and peaceful coexistence.

13. To our gallant officers and soldiers still in active service, we offer encouragement and resolve. The nation believes in you. Nigeria depends on your professionalism, courage and integrity to secure every inch of our territory and to defeat forces that threaten our collective existence.

14. This remembrance also carries a message of healing. Across our land are wounds left by war, violent conflict and unrest. As a nation, we must heal together through justice, reconciliation, compassion and a shared resolve to say never again.

15. Let this day renew our commitment to the welfare of veterans, widows and orphans. Through the Emblem Appeal Fund and other support mechanisms, we must ensure that those who sacrificed, and those who continue to sacrifice, are never forgotten.

16. As white pigeons are released today to symbolise peace, may Nigeria rise above division, hatred and fear. May the blood of our fallen heroes continue to nourish the tree of unity, justice and national progress.

17. On behalf of the Government and people of Kaduna State, I salute our fallen heroes, honour our veterans and stand in solidarity with our serving personnel. Your sacrifices are forever etched in our national conscience.

18. May Almighty God grant eternal rest to our fallen heroes, strengthen those still in service, comfort their families, and grant lasting peace to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

God bless the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
God bless Kaduna State.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
