KADUNA STATE PILGRIMS WELFARE AGENCY TO REFOUND OF123 SAUDI RIYALS IN SAUDI ARABIA AND ₦5 in Nigeria
The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has announced that each pilgrim from the state will receive a refund of 123 Saudi Riyals while in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with an additional ₦5 to be paid upon return to Nigeria for those who wish to collect it.
The Executive Chairman of the Agency, Malam Salihu S. Abubakar, made the announcement today shortly after the Zuhr prayer at the pilgrims' accommodation mosque.
According to the Chairman, during the collection of fares for the 2026 Hajj, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) required pilgrims to pay a Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) of 500 US Dollars at an exchange rate of ₦1,443 per dollar, amounting to ₦721,500 per pilgrim.
However, before the pilgrims departed for Saudi Arabia, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) provided the BTA at an exchange rate of ₦1,350.74 per dollar, which amounted to ₦675,370 for the same $500.
This resulted in a balance of ₦46,130 per pilgrim. The Agency subsequently secured an exchange rate of ₦375 per Saudi Riyal, making the refund equivalent to approximately 123 Saudi Riyals, with a balance of ₦5 remaining.
Malam Salihu S. Abubakar stated that every Kaduna State pilgrim will receive 123 Saudi Riyals, while the remaining ₦5 will be paid in Nigeria upon their return for those who choose to collect it.
He further announced that the refund exercise will commence today at 4:00 p.m. at the Kaduna State pilgrims' accommodation in Saudi Arabia.

AS HAJJI RITES NEAR COMPLETION, SHEIKH HALLIRU MARAYA ADVISES PILGRIMS
As the Hajj rites gradually draw to a close and pilgrims complete their stay in Mina, Sheikh Halliru Maraya, Chairman Committee on Preaching 2026 Hajj and also a member of the Kaduna State Special Committee on Hajj, has urged pilgrims to maximize the spiritual benefits of their remaining days in the holy land.
Addressing the pilgrims after the Zuhr prayer in Makkah, Sheikh Maraya advised them not to be in a hurry to leave the holy city before the official announcement of their return journey to Nigeria by the Hajj management.
He reminded the pilgrims that Shaytan remains the greatest enemy of every Muslim and may instill impatience and eagerness to them, to leave the sacred city prematurely.
He therefore encouraged them to remain focused on worship and take advantage of the unique spiritual opportunities available in Makkah, the birthplace of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the city where the revelation of the Holy Qur'an began.
Sheikh Maraya further highlighted the immense rewards associated with acts of worship in the holy cities, particularly the recitation of the Holy Qur'an, remembrance of Allah, supplications, and voluntary prayers. According to him, acts of worship performed in the sacred land carry rewards far greater than those performed elsewhere, with prayers offered in the Holy City attracting rewards up to one hundred thousand times more.
He also cautioned pilgrims against engaging in unnecessary gatherings and activities that could distract them from worship.
Stressing the importance of maintaining good character and discipline, Sheikh Maraya reminded them that even the intention to commit a wrongful act in the holy land is regarded as sinful and will be recorded accordingly.
He encouraged all pilgrims to remain steadfast in worship, supplication, and the remembrance of Allah while seeking His forgiveness and mercy throughout the remainder of their stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
