*NATIONAL BLOOD DONOR DAY 2025: KADUNA ZONAL CENTRE REPORTS IMPRESSIVE TURNOUT*
The National Blood Service Agency (NBSA) Kaduna Zonal Centre marked the 2025 National Blood Donor Day with resounding success, with the theme “From Headlines to Lifelines: Media Advocacy for Voluntary Blood Donation.”
The event saw a remarkable turnout of both first-time and regular donors, who came out to share their stories and testimonies and participate in the blood donation exercise. Certificates of appreciation were issued to all donors who came to celebrate National Blood Donor Day 2025.
Speaking on the occasion, Acting Zonal Director Dr. Peter Maiyaki expressed gratitude to all participants, saying, “Your generosity continues to save lives, and your story truly has the power to make a difference.”
The Agency commended its hardworking and dedicated staff, who were beautifully dressed attending and appreciating donors, for their efforts in saving lives.
The NBSA Kaduna Zonal Centre reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening donor engagement, improving service delivery, and expanding public awareness initiatives, as it continues to promote voluntary non-remunerated blood donation across the region.

Red Saturday: A Call to Save Lives Across Africa
This past week the African Society of Blood Transfusion (AFSBT) reminded us that Africa faces a critical shortage of safe, quality blood. Their answer? A continent‑wide day of action Red Saturday where we roll up our sleeves, donate voluntarily, and spread the word.
In Nigeria, the National Blood Service Agency (NBSA) has set an ambitious goal: 10,000 units of blood* in a single day.
💉 Why it matters: Safe blood saves lives whether it’s a mother in labor, a child fighting anemia, or a victim of accident or disease.
🌍 Why now: Across Africa the need is urgent. One day, one continent, one purpose to keep blood banks stocked and patients safe.
The North‑West Zonal office of NBSA, Kaduna organized a blood donation drive at the Nigerian AirForce Base, Kaduna, on Saturday, 29th November 2025, joining other centres nationwide to reach the 10,000 units target.
Together, we can make the colour of compassion flow through every corner of Africa. Safe blood saves lives. 🙏💖
