World Water Day 2026
The Commission led by the Executive Chairman Dr Dogara Bashir, and orher agencies in Kaduna State marked the 2026 World Water Day with a strong commitment to improving access to clean water and promoting gender equality.
Speaking shortly after the road walk at a press briefing, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, Alhaji Ashiru Abdu Na Abdu, represented by the Deputy Director, Water Resources, Engr. David Roven Aliyu highlighted this year’s theme: “Water and Gender: Where Water Flows, Equality Grows.”
He emphasized that women and girls are disproportionately affected by water scarcity, impacting their health, education, safety, and economic opportunities

The Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC), Kaduna State Water Corporation Branch, paid a courtesy visit to the Kaduna State Water Regulatory Commission (KADSWAC) as part of its ongoing stakeholder engagement efforts.
The visit, led by the Branch President, Comrade Shehu Umar, was aimed at strengthening collaboration, sharing institutional knowledge, and defining strategic pathways towards improving and sustaining water supply, sanitation, and hygiene services for the people of Kaduna State.
Speaking during the engagement, the SSASCGOC leadership emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue between labour unions and regulatory bodies in achieving efficient service delivery, improved working conditions, and sustainable water sector reforms.
The delegation was received by the Executive Chairman of the Commission Dr Dogara Bashir and officials of the Kaduna State Water Regulatory Commission, who appreciated the initiative and reaffirmed KADWREC's commitment to inclusive stakeholder engagement, transparency, and sector-wide cooperation in line with the state’s water development objectives.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to deepen collaboration, enhance regulatory–operational synergy, and jointly pursue policies that will positively impact water service delivery across Kaduna State.

Today, the Kaduna State Water Services Regulatory Commission held its first General Staff Meeting of 2026. The session focused on reviewing outstanding 2025 activities and setting priorities for the year ahead, with presentations from key departments.

Staff of the Commission participated at the just concluded Utility Creditworthiness Course, a 7‑week hybrid training program (online and face‑to‑face) organized by the World Bank. Kaduna State emerged as the best performing State and the State with the highest number of individual awardees. Prizes were awarded to the following: Zainab Gidado (KADWREC), Eutychus John (KADSWAC), and Maryam Abdullahi (KADSWAC).

The Commission today received a committee on the proposed establishment of the Kano State Water Regulation Commission, in a meeting aimed at strengthening regulatory frameworks within the water sector.
During the engagement, a detailed presentation was delivered by the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Dr Dogara Bashir with particular emphasis on the importance and mandates of the Commission . The presentation highlighted lessons learned, best practices, and institutional frameworks that could inform the successful establishment and effective functioning of a water regulatory commission.
Members of the committee engaged in constructive discussions with the Commission, focusing on regulatory oversight, governance structures, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable water resource management. The session underscored the importance of learning from existing regulatory bodies to ensure efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the water sector.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote effective regulation, improved water service delivery, and sustainable management of water resources across.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to continue collaboration and consultations as efforts toward the establishment of the Kano State Water Regulation Commission progresses.

The Kaduna State Water Services Regulatory Commission (KADWREC) has successfully concluded its 2025 Retreat, during which key regulatory procedures for consumer complaints resolution, licensing and permits, inspections, and translation of regulatory information were reviewed and approved. The retreat strengthened collaboration within the Commission and reaffirmed KADWREC’s commitment to effective regulation and improved water and sanitation services across Kaduna State.

The Kaduna State Water Services Regulatory Commission (KADWREC) has commenced its 2025 Retreat for Staff and Board Members. The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Dr Dogara Bashir said the aim of the retreat is to strengthen regulatory procedures and improve water and sanitation service delivery across the State.
The retreat focuses on reviewing and validating key regulatory tools, including procedures for consumer complaints resolution, issuance of licenses and permits, inspection of water and sanitation utilities, and the translation of regulatory information into Hausa language to enhance public understanding.
The interactive sessions are designed to promote collaboration, improve regulatory consistency, and enhance institutional capacity within the Commission.
Outcomes of the retreat are expected to include approved regulatory procedures, improved coordination among departments, and strengthened consumer protection mechanisms.
