KSPHCMB, DATHARM REVIEW MCHTrack ENDLINE ASSESSMENT FINDINGS TO STRENGTHEN DIGITAL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FOR IMMUNIZATION
The Kano State Primary Healthcare Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board, in collaboration with Datharm, on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026, convened a dissemination meeting to review the endline assessment findings of MCHTrack, a digital community engagement platform for routine immunization developed by Datharm with support from the Gates Foundation. The meeting, held at the Kano Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), brought together Amina Ahmad K.U. Nagogo, Chief Executive Officer of Datharm; Amina Muhammad, State Coordinator; Dr. Nafisa Sani Nass, Datharm Research Lead; representatives of KSPHCMB, the Kano State Government and health sector partners, among other stakeholders. The engagement focused on sharing findings and lessons from the implementation of MCHTrack in Ungogo and Gabasawa Local Government Areas and exploring its contribution to community-level immunization activities.
The meeting highlighted how digital, real-time monitoring can strengthen visibility, tracking and follow-up of immunization activities at community level, particularly in identifying and referring zero-dose and under-immunized children and monitoring their progress towards facility attendance and vaccination. Stakeholders also examined barriers along this pathway and the need to strengthen community–facility data linkages to generate timely information for immunization planning, follow-up and service delivery. In his opening remarks, the Director-General of KSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of using reliable data and appropriate digital innovations to strengthen community engagement, improve programme accountability and support efforts to reach children who remain unreached by routine immunization services.
The dissemination further provided a platform for the Kano State Government and partners to identify practical opportunities for strengthening and sustaining digital community engagement within primary healthcare services. Discussions centred on applying lessons from Ungogo and Gabasawa to improve community identification and referral, strengthen follow-up of children referred for vaccination, enhance the flow of information between communities and health facilities, and ensure that digital tools generate actionable data for immunization decision-making. The meeting reinforced the importance of sustained collaboration among government, communities and partners in using evidence and digital solutions to close immunization gaps and improve access to routine immunization services across Kano State.
