Re: The Hypocrisy of Hon. Abiodun Akinlade's Meeting With Awori Obas

At first, we didn't want to dignify you with a response. Meanwhile, to set the record straight and for posterity to bear witness to the truth, we found it imperative to respond.

Nothing and no one will soil the relationship between the most cherished son of the soil, Rt. Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade, the respected son of Yewa- Aworiland and our highly revered Obas. The Asiwaju of Owode Yewa will never be at loggerheads with the traditional institution. The Akinrogun of Ipokia is a well cultured and mannered Yoruba man, who will never malign the royal stools. The Aare Asoludero of Ajilete has always maintained a robust and personal relationship with our Monarchs as they always have a meeting point. They have always been around Hon. Akinlade at all his events. Just last year, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa Land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle’s representatives, and 18 other Obas were at Owode Yewa to grace the commissioning of the 320 capacity CBT, JAMB Centre at The Gem International School Owode, one of the Private initiatives of Akinlade.

The Abiodun Akinlade Group (TAAG) has always maintained that it's the prerogative of the Obas all over the world to confer Chieftaincy title on anyone, but the conferment of a chieftaincy title on a person doesn't translate to and should not be misinterpreted as conferment of indigeneship on the person.

Therefore, if you say that Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade is an Apostle of "Kings should not be dragged into politics", you are right. Nobody should use our traditional institution to play politics. Meanwhile, it is not out of place for politicians to seek royal blessings before embarking on a journey. We are glad you recalled that Abiodun Akinlade led His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle MFR for royal blessings.

It may interest you to know that on the 15th of April, Rt. Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade wrote a letter to the Paramount Ruler of Yewa Land and Chairman of Yewa Council of Obas intimating him of his decision to run for Ogun West Senate and to seek a convenient date to meet with the Obas in Yewa Land. The letter which was received and acknowledged on the 17th of April, had four (4) different days as options proposed to the Council of Obas. Surprisingly, this letter is yet to be attended to till date for reasons best known to them (copy of letter attached).

It will also interest you to note that in less than 48 hours of notice, The Olota of Ota, HRM Oba Prof. Abdulkabir Obalanlege, the Arole Iganmode personally received Hon. Abiodun Akinlade in his palace and two days after Awori Obas delightfully met with a man they referred to as their true son.

We would have loved not to go into all these details, but since you have brought it to the public, you may need to find out why they have refused to meet with Hon. Abiodun Akinlade.

We found it laughable to read from you that Baba Adinni, who is a holder of over 12 meritorious Chieftaincy titles has been boycotting Palace events. The Oluomo of Ihunbo and Bobagunwa of Itoro, only attends events which he is invited to, also note that he has the right to choose which events to attend or not.

While we maintain that the relationship between our principal and the Obas is perfect, we want to most sincerely thank the Olota of Ota and the entire Awori Obas for the warm reception and royal blessings.

We await the response of our letter to the Yewa traditional council to enable us visit them as "Ile Baba omo kii ba Omo leru”.

Moving on, senatorial ambition notwithstanding , the major concern of Akinlade is how to better the lives of the people by providing job opportunities, social and infrastructural development. Akinlade, popularly, know as Baba Omokeke giant strides has always been well acknowledged by all and sundry.

Elections will come and go, we strongly appeal to all genuine sons and daughters of Yewa Aworiland to maintain peace and ensure that we remain united to protect our collective heritage.

We would like to reiterate that Rt. Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade will never, even in the face of perceived conspiracy, because of politics or any other reason bring to disrepute our traditional Institution. He has and is still enjoying a fantastic relationship with our Obas across the length and breadth of Yewa-Awori Land.

Signed
The Abiodun Akinlade Group
