๐Ÿšจ Fire Safety Mock Drill Conducted at the Consulate ๐Ÿšจ

A fire mock drill was successfully conducted at the Consulate premises on 26 May 2026 with the objective of enhancing fire safety awareness and strengthening emergency preparedness among officers and officials of the Consulate.

The exercise commenced with a comprehensive demonstration on the use of fire extinguishers and other fire safety equipment. Participants were briefed on different types of fires and the appropriate response methods for each category. Practical training was also provided on the correct operation of fire extinguishers using the PASS technique โ€” Pull the pin, Aim the nozzle, Squeeze the handle, and Sweep from side to side.

During the session, participants actively engaged with the instructors, raising several queries related to fire safety procedures, preventive measures, and emergency response protocols. The interactive Question & Answer session further enhanced understanding of fire prevention and safety practices.

Officers and officials of the Consulate enthusiastically participated in the mock drill, making the exercise highly informative and beneficial. The training significantly strengthened practical knowledge and preparedness to respond effectively in the event of a fire emergency.

Consul General of India in Lagos, Shri Kannan, hosted an official dinner in honour of Shri Deva Kumar Edwin of Dangote Industries Ltd. in Lagos on 25 May 2026.

The discussions focused on strengthening business ties between India and Dangote Industries Ltd., while exploring new opportunities for enhanced cooperation, investments, industrial collaboration, and technology partnership.

The interaction reaffirmed the shared commitment to deepening Indiaโ€“Nigeria economic, Commercial, Trade & Technology engagement and promoting mutually beneficial partnerships across key sectors.

Promoting Indiaโ€™s Technology and Scientific Temper !!!!

Members of the Telugu Association of Nigeria (TAN) called on Consul General Shri Kannan at the Consulate on 21 May 2026 and held productive discussions on TANโ€™s ongoing activities and future initiatives aimed at promoting education, technology, innovation, and community welfare.

The discussions focused on organizing AI workshops, Python programming language workshops, promotion of the ODOP initiative, and NEET orientation programs for young students. These initiatives are expected to encourage scientific temper, enhance technical skills, and create greater awareness among students and the Indian Diaspora in Nigeria.

Consul General Shri Kannan appreciated the proactive efforts and community-oriented initiatives undertaken by TAN and commended their valuable service to the Indian Diaspora as well as friends from Nigeria. He also encouraged continued collaboration in promoting knowledge-sharing, skill development, and stronger India-Nigeria people-to-people ties.

Expansion of Indian Business in Nigeria !!!!

As part of Consulateโ€™s trade and business promotion efforts and to strengthen the presence of Indian companies in Nigeria, Consul General Shri Kannan held an investment meeting with officials of Dr Agarwal Eye Hospital for the Africa region โ€” Mr. Anand Ramanathan, Vice President โ€“ Operations, and Mr. Prakash Balu, GM โ€“ Operations โ€” at the Consulate on 21 May 2026.

The proposed investment in Lagos will establish a new Dr Agarwal Eye Hospital, bringing Indiaโ€™s world-class eye care, New, Emerging and Strategic Technologies, advanced surgeries, and emerging medical technologies to the people of Nigeria.

This initiative will enhance access to state-of-the-art eye treatment for patients across Nigeria while also supporting skill development and employment opportunities through the introduction of Indiaโ€™s advanced medical technologies.

The Consulate remains committed to promoting Indiaโ€™s tech - diplomacy and strengthening India-Nigeria cooperation in healthcare and innovation for the benefit of the wider Africa region.
