*LAGOS MAINLAND LOCAL GOVERNMENT PARTICIPATES IN STATEWIDE MONTHLY ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION EXERCISE*
Lagos Mainland Local Government, under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Mayor (Dr.) Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, joined the Lagos State Government in the successful reintroduction of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise across the State.
As part of the exercise, the Council's environmental team embarked on an extensive monitoring and enforcement tour across the Local Government Area to ensure full compliance and active participation by residents and business operators.
Leading the exercise were the Executive Chairman, Mayor Emilagba Jubril Kolawole, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Adewale Momoh Moshood, members of the Legislative Council, the Secretary to the Local Government, Supervisors, Special Advisers, and members of the Management Team, the environmental Waste Management Department, and CDC, their presence underscored the Council's unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and grassroots development.
To ensure effective coordination, officials were strategically deployed across all wards, namely Ward A (Otto), Ward B, Ward C, Ward D, Ward E, Ward F, Ward G, Ward H, and Ward I. In a significant move to strengthen governance and accelerate grassroots development, the Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Mayor Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, has officially inaugurated a new set of Supervisors and Special Advisers. The swearing-in ceremony was held on Friday, 24 April 2026, at the Council Conference Hall.
Describing the occasion as a pivotal moment in the administration of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Mayor Emilagba stated that the newly appointed officials would play a vital role in enhancing service delivery and bringing governance closer to the people.
The Chairman congratulated the appointees, noting that their selection was based strictly on merit, competence, integrity, and a proven commitment to public service. He expressed confidence that their wealth of experience and expertise would greatly advance the developmental agenda of the Council.
Speaking at the event, the Council Manager, Mr. Ojikutu Moriu Oluwafemi, expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Chairman for his unwavering commitment to service and good governance. He urged the newly inaugurated officials to uphold confidentiality, remain loyal to the principles of good governance, and avoid actions that could undermine the administration.
He further encouraged them to always seek constructive solutions that would promote progress and move Lagos Mainland Local Government to greater heights.
The newly inaugurated Supervisors and Special Advisers are: Ayimora Bunmi, Allah-De Ahmed, Adio Waliu, Kadiri Fatai, Afisi Ishola, Ogunbabi Latif, Tajudeen Bello, Jones Abiodun Olatunji, Abdulrahim Ibrahim, and Opeoluwa Moshood.
They took their Oath of Office, administered by the Council's Legal Officer, Barrister Mrs. Lawrence Priscilia Isoken.
In his charge to the new appointees, Mayor Emilagba reiterated the core values of his administration, which include inclusive governance, transparency, and accountability. He emphasized that his administration maintains a zero-tolerance policy for division, rancour, or personal interests capable of derailing collective progress.
"We must work as a united team, driven by innovation, discipline, and a singular focus on productivity," Mayor Emilagba stated.
He urged the appointees to align fully with the administration's policy direction, which prioritizes efficient service delivery, grassroots empowerment, and the overall welfare of the people of Lagos Mainland.

The Lagos Mainland Local Government Secretariat came alive in a festive atmosphere on Tuesday, 21st April 2026, as staff and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the retirement of the Council Manager, Mr. Wasiu Akintola Adebowale, after years of meritorious service in the Unified Local Government Service of Lagos State.
The colourful send-forth ceremony, organised by the Executive Chairman, Mayor Dr. Emilagba Jubril Kolawole, in collaboration with the executive members, legislative arm, management, and the entire workforce of the Council, was marked by heartfelt tributes and commendations in honour of the outgoing administrator.
Speakers at the event unanimously described Mr. Adebowale as a dedicated and disciplined officer who demonstrated an exceptional understanding of his duties, with punctuality and professionalism as hallmarks of his service.
In his remarks, the Council Chairman extolled the retiree’s integrity, diligence, and exemplary leadership style, noting that his open-door policy and commitment to service delivery significantly contributed to the growth and stability of the Council.
He added that Mr. Akintola’s admirable qualities are worthy of emulation and urged staff members to imbibe his work ethic, expressing confidence that such attributes would continue to attract favour and success in his post-service life.
The Vice Chairman, in his tribute, described Mr. Akintola as a dependable colleague and an exceptional professional whose humility and dedication to duty stood out throughout his years of service.

Also speaking, the Head of Human Resources, Mrs. Kehinde Akinyemi, lauded the retiree as a problem solver and team player who consistently demonstrated a genuine passion for the growth and development of others.
Mr Akintola Wasiu in his message acknowledges the support and encouragement of the Executive Chairman, he encouraged accountability and diligence to work. The Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Mayor (Dr.) Emilagba Jubril Kolawole, has successfully flagged off a Mega Empowerment Programme designed to directly impact residents and strengthen grassroots development across the local government.
The programme featured several key interventions targeted at improving livelihoods and enhancing public service delivery. Beneficiaries received financial empowerment to support small businesses and household needs, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to economic inclusion and poverty reduction.
As part of the welfare package, Mayor Emilagba also facilitated empowerment support for families of deceased persons within the local government, providing relief and assistance to help cushion the impact of their loss.
In the area of transportation and operations, the programme included the presentation of MINI BUSES (KOROPE) to support mobility and small-scale transport activities, as well as the official handing over of a STAFF BUS to enhance efficiency and service delivery within council operations.
Residents also benefited from the ongoing FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH (9th Edition), which provided healthcare services such as consultations, screenings, and general medical support, further strengthening access to quality healthcare at the grassroots level.
The programme also reaffirmed ongoing efforts in environmental sanitation, with continued focus on clean-up exercises, fumigation, and waste management initiatives across communities.

The project is part of ongoing efforts by the administration to address persistent flooding, improve environmental conditions, and enhance the lifespan of road infrastructure within the local government.
Mayor Emilagba noted that the intervention is strategic to safeguarding homes, businesses, and public facilities in the area, especially during heavy rainfall periods. The project reflects the administration’s commitment to sustainable urban renewal and proactive infrastructure development.
Residents and stakeholders at the event commended the initiative, describing it as a timely solution to long standing drainage challenges in the community.
