BREAKING: UK Fitch Solutions predicts winner of 2023 Presidential elections in Nigeria
Crimechadmin
October 29, 2022
UK-based Fitch Solutions Groups says the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is the most likely to win the 2023 presidential election.
The group, in a report ahead of the election slated for February next year, said many factors pointed towards a Tinubu victory at the polls.
“Indeed, we maintain our view that the ruling party’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the candidate most likely to win the presidential election as a split opposition vote will favour the All Progressives Congress,” FSG said.
Among what the group said would grant a Tinubu victory is his performance as governor of Lagos State, the choice of his running mate and the party, APC.
“We expect that the party, which has nominated a Muslim-Muslim ticket, will repeat its strong performance in the North. Given that Tinubu is a former governor of Lagos, the party is also likely to improve on its performance in the South West. Furthermore, we expect Tinubu to benefit from incumbency advantages, with the APC having been in power since 2015,” the report stated.
On recent polls which have been giving victory to Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the group said the polls were overstating his popularity.
It further added that the polls were skewed towards the urban few.
The report said, “At Fitch Solutions, we believe that recent polls are significantly overstating support for Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate running in Nigeria’s February 2023 presidential election. Surveys showing that Obi is ahead of his opponents Bola Tinubu (All Progressives Congress; APC) and Atiku Abubakar (People’s Democratic Party; PDP) were mostly based on responses gathered online. Since only 36.0% of Nigerians use the Internet (World Bank, 2020), we believe that these results are skewed towards urban, affluent voters who are most likely to support Obi. We also highlight that these polls suggest that a large share of voters remain undecided.”
It further added that it would be difficult for the LP flagbearer to get significant number of votes in the North.
“Even if these surveys were accurate at a national level, Obi’s lack of support in Nigeria’s Muslim-majority North would make it difficult for him to win next year’s election. Indeed, the North is home to the majority of all voters and turnout in this part of the country tends to be relatively high, underscoring the importance of the Northern electorate.
“According to Nigeria’s 1999 constitution, a candidate can only be elected if they both receive the majority of overall votes and over 25.0% of votes in at least 24 of the country’s 36 states. Given that Obi’s Labour Party has limited infrastructure in the North, he will struggle to meet this second voting requirement. Indeed, the Labour Party is not even running candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives in many northern constituencies.
Furthermore, the northern electorate historically tends to vote for presidential candidates from their region. With Obi being a Christian from the South (Anambra State), increasing his voter share in the North will prove challenging,” the FSG added.
The report also stated that PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar would feel the impact of the support wave Obi is getting, which will be an advantage for Tinubu.
“While we believe Obi is unlikely to win the election, he will probably do well for a third party candidate. Indeed, a third-party candidate has never reached more than 7.5% of votes in Nigeria. However, due to his frugal reputation and large social media following we expect Obi to get a higher share of the vote than previous third-party candidates.
“As such, we believe that Obi’s popularity will most likely split the opposition vote, at the expense of the PDP. The PDP’s candidate (Atiku Abubakar) is a Northerner and we believe that the party’s only route to victory is expanding its vote in the South West and North Central states, while retaining large majorities in the South South and South East.
“However, given Obi’s popularity in the south – especially the South South and South East – we believe it is unlikely the main opposition party will be able to gain more votes in these parts of the country,” the report added.
BOOM 💥
Tinubu drops a bomb on his choice of Kashim Shettima as his running mate during an interface with CAN in Kano.
I am a unique Muslim because I am married to a Pastor. When I am at home, she is the boss.
I did not try to Islamise her. We have two bedside lamps, one with the Bible, and the other one with the Holy Quran. I have never seen the two Holy Books change their position or quarrel in the same bedroom.
We have a country to build. Me, I have an election to win. After winning my primary election, I didn’t look for the ballot papers to know whether those who voted were Muslim or Christian. All I needed was to win, and I won. When I won, I started dancing.
If you polarise Nigeria along religious lines, we will have bad leadership. We should not fight along religious lines. The way you pray for forgiveness as a Christian is the same way I pray for forgiveness as a Muslim.
I know you would not want to be an enemy to the winning team. I am a politician, I have a formula, and my formula is to win election without rigging.
I am a minority Muslim from Yoruba, How will I go and chose one Emmanuel from Sokoto?" Tinubu asked.

PRESS RELEASE
I will give Nigerians 100% of my time, not 50% in Dubai, 50% in Nigeria, Says Asíwájú Tinubu
..assures Northern business leaders of better business climate
All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday in Kano declared that he would devote 100% of his time and energy in the service of Nigeria and the people.
Tinubu, at an interactive session with members of the popular Tijjaniyyah sect Sunday afternoon in Kano, said he won't be a part-time President who will share his time between living in Dubai and Nigeria, adding that he would concentrate his attention and energy on confronting and surmounting Nigeria's pressing challenges.
In attendance at the session held inside the African Hall of Kano Government House were his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, and at least six governors of the party.
Governors at the session included Chairman Progressives Governors' Forum & Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu, Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Bello Matawalle (Zamfara), Babajide Sanwo-olu (Lagos), former APC Interim Chairman Chief Bisi Akande and some of the party's National Working Committee members.
At the meeting, members of the Tijjaniyyah sect led by leader, Sheikh Bashir Tijjani Usman Zangon Bareebah, presented a long list of issues the sect wants the APC Presidential candidate to address when he gets to office.
Top on the list are improved electricity, full security, giving agriculture full attention including provision and completion of dams and improved quality education for Nigerians.
While giving their full endorsement and support to the APC presidential ambition, the sect demanded that the Tinubu presidency should ensure inclusion of their members in cabinet and other government appointments, reduction in Hajj fares and assistance in concluding Tijjaniyyah University under construction in Kano.
In his response, Tinubu said the answers to some of the demands were contained in his manifesto unfolded to the whole world on Friday by President Muhammadu Buhari, stressing that he is running to be the president because of his commitment to better the lives of all Nigerians.
In a similar development, the APC Presidential candidate met with business leaders from Northern Nigeria Saturday night in Kano where he assured the business community of a better business environment through implementation of well thought-out policies that will revive dead and ailing manufacturing companies in Kano and across the country.
At a forum to share insights with the Northern business community, business leaders and captains of industry from across the North openly endorsed the APC presidential candidate and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.
At a forum attended by the APC National Chairman, Senator Adamu Abdullahi, Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Shettima, Governor Ganduje of Kano and seven other governors, the business leaders said with his private sector background, Asíwájú Tinubu would drive the nation's economy well.
Governor Ganduje said Kano and Lagos have always maintained a long standing relationship which will be strengthened under Tinubu whom he labelled a Kano man.
Ganduje said as governor of Lagos State, Asíwájú ran a pan-Nigeria cabinet that grew the state in all indices of governance and economy.
While assuring the northern business leaders of better business environment with well-thought-out policies that will revitalise industries and open up new opportunities, Tinubu identified the link between Kano as a centre of commerce and his economic plan for Nigeria.
He said: "There is a strong nexus between the place of Kano as a centre of prosperity and my plan for Nigeria. What I pledge is a revamped economy which will renew the hope of our people. Our country needs multiple centres of prosperity, and we intend to achieve that by adding value across all sectors of our economy.
"As I said during my speech at the Arewa House on Monday, Nigeria is sitting on a goldmine. There is no state in Nigeria that is lacking in one resources or the other. We are determined to explore and exploit these resources to the maximum benefits of our people. Kano, for example, has huge agricultural potentials and important mineral resources underneath its ground like gold, silver, nickel, tin ore and columbite. Each of these, if properly harnessed, can add significantly to our economy as a country.
The APC flagbearer added that Kano's arable land and its comparative advantage in agriculture will be further expanded to make the state and northern region industrial hubs in sub-Saharan Africa.
"The state’s vast arable land and other agricultural potentials, if added to its population will make Kano a force to reckon with in sub-saharan African agro-market. Those who listen to my speech in Kaduna would have heard about my plan for agriculture. Aside working with the private sector to make input available that would guarantee greater yield, among other incentives, we will ensure all categories of farmers have easy access to finance through appropriate government and private sector initiatives. We have seen the wonders from the CBN’s Anchor Borrowers Programme, and the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative. We will consolidate on those gains. Kano’s famous dams such Tiga, Chalawa Gorge, Thomas, Kusalla, etc that are not being maximally tapped will get special attention from my government. We will invest in the expansion of irrigation land, channelization of the water, among other initiatives that will ensure we cultivate these lands all year round.
"We will not stop in investing and boosting our agricultural potentials, we will add value throughout the value chain.
Through Commodity Exchange markets, we will link markets like Dawanau in Kano and Gujungu in Jigawa with international markets and boost return on investment for our farmers. The overall aim is to move the nation from import oriented to export oriented economy where grains from Kano will be exported to world market rather than us buying from other countries.
"I know of the commercial exploits of some of you, traders and businessmen in Kwari Textile Market, Sabongari Market, Singer Market and the famous grain market in Dawanau which transacts with the rest of West Africa. These commercial activities alone can provide the state with enough IGR to maintain itself with the right support and policies.
Beyond trading and commerce, I have a special interest in addressing the problem of the dead or comatose Kano industrial estates in Sharada, Bompai, Panshekara, Jogana, etc, which were vibrant in 70s and 80s. We understand the reason why those companies collapsed and we have a plan to revive them and make them competitive.
"We will provide incentives for industrial development nationwide through institutions like the Bank of Industry. There will be a deliberate policy to create industrial hubs and free zones specific to every region. For Kano, we will give attention to agro-allied industries such as textiles, tomato paste, rice processing, animal feeds, etc, in line with the state’s competitive advantages."
Signed

It's very clear now that the idlers clamouring ceaselessly for Tinubu to speak in public lack the mental robustness, open mindness & sufficient education required to understand the exotic words, deep logic & bold analytical excellence employed always in the speech of a first class graduate of an American university.
Is there any wonder then why many so called educated people are supporting & promoting an Ekwulobia Special Centre GCE 'weak pass' certificate holder & a 3 months Hygiene Diploma certificate holder to become the president of Nigeria, swallowing all the trash, lies & inconsistent deceits & kindergarten arguements they spew out daily in public.
Asiwaju is just too sophisticated & many international audiences will be wondering by now how he shares a space with such multitude of wilful ignorant lots.
It's ok to be poorly educated. Afterall, not everybody will have the privilege of a good education. It's equally ok to be foolish & it's also your right as well to revel on wilful ignorance -- social media has made both fashionable. But poorly educated, closed minded ethno-religious bigots & incurable wilful ignorants should make every effort to save themselves some dignity by avoiding the authoritative ignorance, imbecilic foolishness, bigotry & hypocrisy on steriods they echo in public spaces each time they are giving their stomach churning quack analysis of Tinubu's words & whole speeches or body language in any public event he participated in.
Asiwaju's education, exposure in life, his rich insight on economics, governance, administration, business, politics, democracy, human resources, history, religion, philosophy & logic etc as well as his knowledge of the "Nigerian Problem" is way beyond their comprehension for the idlers to comment. They should shut up already & learn from a proven achiever educated at the highest levels; an accomplished professional accountant & economist who has worked at the highest levels in many giant multinationals around the world, a captain & owner of many successful giant companies, a behemoth political institution himself & public administrator per excellence who is arguably the best governor ever ruled a state in Nigeria, the father of modern Nigeria's democracy & progressivism & the indisputable leader of the ruling party of Africa's most populous & most powerful country -- Nigeria.

*Reference to our self acclaimed Saint Peter Obi Presidential ambition as igbo's project is a c**k and bull story.*
Nobody can brain wash me with the c**k and bull story that our self acclaimed Saint Peter Obi Presidential ambition is igbo's project.
His Presidential ambition is not igbo's project because there was never a time igbo's assembled and decide to send Peter Obi to go and contest for Nigeria Presidency for them.
Any igbo man or woman supporting Peter Obi Presidential ambition is doing so on his or her own personal decision and not igbo's collective decision.
Infact, I see those supporting Peter Obi's Presidential ambition as the real saboteurs because it's crystal clear that he is going nowhere and they want every igbo's to follow a man that is going nowhere blindly, such will not happen.
Those supporting him are those he consulted and brain washed.
I see them as gullible minded fellows.
But people like me and many others that are realist and cannot be associated with primordial sentiment are doing the right thing by opposing Peter Obi's Presidential ambition.
I said this before and am repeating it again, Peter Obi himself knows very well that he is going nowhere but he is just deceiving his gullible minded Zombidient followers.
Peter Obi's real name for now is OYO meaning that he is on his own in pursuit of his dead on arrival Presidential ambition.
Some of those following Peter Obi that I interacted with and argued my stand on his Presidential ambition, agreed with me that Peter Obi has zero chances of winning the 2023 Presidential election but that he is going to make an impact.
I now told them that impact without victory is useless.
Any igbo man supporting Peter Obi's Presidential ambition even when the person knows very well that he has zero chances of winning the 2023 Presidential election is a saboteur.
It is high time igbo's begin to do wise political calculation because when that is done , they will clinch Nigeria Presidency with the overwhelming support of all Nigerians.
Akaekpuchionwa is proudly disobedient.
Daalu nu.
