"I've always believed in God, but during this turmoil, it felt like God had abandoned me. I came to find out and realize that God didn't abandon me; I walked away from Him.
It took my pastor, support from my family friends and OSFCSA to help me get to where I am. I still have a ways to go, and I'm not going to stop until I get there." – Anonymous (age 37)
Afraid, alone, anxious, depressed, misunderstood — these are some of the common feelings among survivors of abuse. The abuser's tactics have a significant and long-lasting effect on their victims, leading to fear, depression, feelings of worthlessness, physical health and mental problems.
But there is hope for you in God. Understanding that God is for you, loves you, and wants to protect you, will help you see how precious you are in His sight. God's word is full of comfort, direction, reassurance, and healing for survivors.
He did give you the strength to get through it. It's true you suffered, and at times it seemed no one would ever help and that it would never end.
But God always had a plan for your life. He has redeemed you. He has taken what Satan meant for harm and turned it into something good (see Romans 8:28).
God can and still Heals and will Restore You!
There is nothing is too hard for God to do. And no matter what you've been through or how bad you hurt, there is hope!
Don't give up! Don't give in!
Together, We Win.

Abuse isn't just about physical violence. It includes messing with your mind, emotions, and money too.
Mental and Emotional Abuse: When someone constantly puts you down or threatens self-harm if you leave, that's mental and emotional abuse.
Financial Abuse: If one person controls all the money and forces you to only spend what they allow, that's financial abuse.
Abuse comes in different forms: physical, sexual, and emotional. It can be hard to see, but if you notice any signs, don't ignore them.
And always remember, if you're going through abuse, it's never your fault. The person hurting you is the one responsible for their actions. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.
Take care of yourself. You deserve better.

On this day of the International Day of the Girl Child, the OSFCSA Foundation had the privilege of sponsoring the event at New Estate Baptist School.
This day reminds us of the boundless potential residing within the girl child. We, as a community, must stand together to nurture their dreams, providing them with opportunities that will shape their futures.
Proverbs 31:25 resonates with the spirit of this day. "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." These words echo the essence of instilling not just knowledge but also confidence and integrity in these young minds.
We wanted them to understand that they are strong, capable, and worthy of every opportunity life presents. Our hope is that these girls, like the empowered women described in Proverbs, will face the future with courage, grace, and unyielding determination.
In the girl child, we see the bright future of our homes, community, our nation, and our world.

Dear Brave Women and Girls Who Survived Abuse,
We want to talk to you today about something incredibly important: restoring your self-esteem after experiencing abuse.
But first, let's say this - we see your strength and courage, and we are proud of your resilience.
Abuse can shatter our self-esteem, leaving us feeling broken and worthless. But we want you to know that you are neither of those things.
You are resilient, and you are valuable.
Rebuilding your self-esteem is like rebuilding a beautiful mosaic, piece by piece, slowly but steady.
Start by acknowledging your feelings. It's okay to be angry, hurt, or confused. These emotions don't define you; they are just parts of your journey.
Next, surround yourself with positivity. Seek out people who uplift and support you, who remind you of your worth.
And remember, self-care isn't selfish; it's essential. Take time for yourself, whether it's reading a book, taking a walk, or just breathing deeply.
Set small goals, and celebrate your victories, no matter how small they may seem. Each step forward is a triumph.
And most importantly, be patient with yourself. Healing takes time, and there will be ups and downs, but you are strong enough to weather them.
You are not defined by what happened to you.
You are defined by your courage, your resilience, and your worth.
You are rebuilding your self-esteem, piece by piece, and you will emerge from this stronger and more radiant than ever.
We believe in you, and we're here to support you every step of the way.
You are not alone in this journey.
You are a survivor, and your strength shines brighter than any darkness.
With love and unwavering support,
OSFCSA
