*APAPA LG CELEBRATES CHILDREN'S DAY IN GRAND STYLE*
Apapa LG celebrated it's children at the Astro Turf Mini Stadium amidst great fiesta and fun fare as the world marks Year 2024 Children's Day.
Hundreds of children and their teachers enjoyed full fun of activities.
The Chairman of the Council Hon Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo who spoke through the Secretary to The Local Government described the children as, "an embodiment of hope, the future leaders, change-makers, whose innocence and resilience serves as a beacon of hope for tomorrow".
She advised the children never to give up on their dreams, never to lose their curiosity and above all should not forget that they have the power to make a difference. While she charged all present to be the champion of children's right and to build a world that is safe for every child.
The Special Adviser to the Chairman on Youth, Sport and Development, Dr. Mike Egbayelo in his welcome address stressed the importance of nurturing the creativity of children and providing them with opportunities to learn and grow, a virtue which the local government has been at the fore-front.
In their colours and numbers, student from different schools participated in march pass, marched with precision and enthusiasm. Each school showcased their talents and dedication, drawing cheers and applause as the Chairman received their salutations, there was a sense of admiration and joy in the air.
There was also Cultural Exhibition/Performance from the children which showcased diverse traditions through dance and other performances.
Various prizes were awarded to winners and runners-up as the students received cheers from Members of the Legislative, Management team, Parents and Teachers who graced the occasion.

Congratulations! It's another Eid-el-Fitr!
As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to every one of you.
This joyous occasion marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting, reflection, and spiritual growth for our Muslim brothers and sisters.
May this special day bring you and your families abundant blessings, happiness, and peace.
Let us embrace the spirit of unity, compassion, and generosity that defines Eid-el-Fitr, and continue to work together towards the improvement of our community.
Specifically, to our Muslim brothers and sisters, having observed the Ramadan month with sanctity, offering of prayers and supplications, let us not throw away the gains we have made as individuals spiritually, financially, health wise and attitudinal change, let's continue in that vein for a better us.
As the chairman of the Port City Council, I am committed to serving you with dedication and integrity. Your well-being and prosperity are my top priorities, and I pledge to continue working tirelessly to ensure that our local government remains a place where everyone can flourish.
The economy may be harsh but we are trying our best to ameliorate the situation hence our various programmes and actions to cushion the effects of these challenging times and we will continue to do more.
As we celebrate, let us do it in moderation, observe security protocols, be security conscious, don't take laws into your hands and report deviants to the appropriate security quarters.
Times of merriment are times more waste is generated, kindly trash your waste appropriately for a healthier and saner environment.
On behalf of the entire local government council, I wish you all a joyous Eid-el-Fitr filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with your loved ones.

*APAPA LG BOSS PUTS SMILES ON RESIDENTS' FACES THROUGH PALIATIVE*
Known for her passion for positive change for her people, The Executive Chairman of Apapa Local Government, Hon Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo on Saturday put smiles on the faces of several residents who trooped into the council's secretariat to get food paliative.
The council chair in her speech explained that the gesture was made possible through the directive and resources made available by His Excellency the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and aimed at alleviating the burden of the harsh economy on the most vulnerable.
"In times of hardship and uncertainty, it is heartwarming to see our leaders coming together to provide support and assistance to those in need. Through the distribution of these food palliatives, we aim to alleviate the burden on the most vulnerable members of our community and ensure that no one goes hungry ⁶during these challenging times." , she said.
Senbanjo further admonished residents to spread kindness and compassion, to look out for one another, and to continue supporting each other through difficult times as she stressed the significants of lifting others up and the importance of collaborative efforts in overcoming challenging times.
The council secretariat was a bee hive of activities as residents were seen in an organized manner, beaming with smiles carry their packs containing rice, beans and cassava flake (garri) out of the LG.
The event which took place at the council secretariat saw the active involvement of
various stakeholders, including the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Councilors, Supervisors, SSA's, Management staff, Community leaders and Resident members.
Hon. Senbanjo who has made it a routine to give out palliative at intervals, not just food but also cash, appreciated Mr. Governor for his unwavering determination to bring relief to the residents while she commended the residents for their support for her administration as she reiterated her commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of the people.

*RAMADAN LECTURE: APAPA COUNCIL BOSS SPURS RESIDENTS TO BE COMMITTED TO GOVERNANCE*
The Council Chairman of Apapa Local Government, Hon. Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo, on Tuesday charged residents to be committed and responsive to governance.
She made this charge during an inaugural Ramadan Lecture held in collaboration with the Apapa League of Imams with the theme "The Role of the Community in Governance".
The event, held at the council secretariat, brought together members of the community, religious leaders, party leaders, technocrats and government officials to discuss the vital role that communities play in governance processes. It served as a platform for dialogue and reflection during the holy month of Ramadan.
Hon. Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo in her keynote address, emphasized the importance of community participation in governance. She highlighted the need for synergy between those in government and the governed who form members of the communities in addressing societal challenges and promoting development. She urged the people to be responsive and committed to governance by protecting public properties, abide by rules and policies and payment of taxes.
She also admonished the gathering to shun all forms of social vices and allow the sanctity of the holy month dovetail into other months for a sane society.
The Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat who is a special guest of honour at the event, represented by Hon Lekan Abdulazeez Balogun, Special Advicer to Lagos State Governor on Economic Planning and Budget called on all to avail themselve the Ramadan period to pray for the country at large. he explained that governor of Lagos State Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is aware of the current economic hardship and challenges faced by the people hence he has put out some measures to mitigate the effect.
He explained further that Mr. Governor rolled out so many initiatives to give temporary relief to the people during this period among which are the provision of "Ounje Eko" which is a 25 percent discount on some major staple foods across all local governments in the state and has commence on the 17th of March; constituted a committee to identify 350 vulnerable families across the state for a proposed feeding plan; 25 percent discount on BRT, rail transport & government ferries across the state.
He urged all muslim faithfuls to continue in morals and values even after the Ramdan period is over.
The guest speaker, an Islamic scholar and lecturer at Lagos State University, Dr Saheed Timehin explored various topics related to community engagement, empowerment, and effective delivery of public services.
He emphasized the role of the individuals in the community as sacrosant to the progress and development of that community, while he stressed the principle of collective responsibility which enable us to do the needful at all times, and he buttressed the need for a change of character and attitude towards development.
Dr. Saheed counselled that residents should endeavour to obey and support government policies.
The lecture was largely attended by traditional leaders within the local goverment, All Progressive Congress party chieftains from the state and environs, members of the Pakistan community, religious leaders, community leaders, dignitaries from all walks of life.
The programme was adjudged a success by participants who appreciated the council chairman for making provision of food packs to break the fast.
