We are a detachment of the Nigerian Military It is the biggest and the most vibrant undertaking of the Nigerian Legion across the Federation.

The Nigerian Legion is a Statutory Body established by the Act of Parliament of 1964 amended by the Nigerian Legion Interim Management Decree 25 of 1977, and further amended by Nigerian Legion Decree No. 37 of 1988, with Federal Republic of Nigeria official Gazette No. 64 vol. 75 dated 30th September 1988 as amended. UNAUTHORIZED USE OF MILITARY CAMOUFLAGE

The attention of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaires Lagos State Command HQ has been drawn to the unscrupulous activities of some bad eggs who are in the habit of wearing military camouflage for motive suspected to be of criminal inclination .
It is pertinent to note that camouflage is not one of our approved uniforms. Hence, all Officers and Men of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaires are hereby advised to desist from wearing all forms of camouflage including ROK Army, Korean Army for your own interest.

The military hierarchy has drawn the attention of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaires Lagos State Command HQ to the recurring cases of impersonations in recent times and directed that all officers and Men of the Corps should be warned to desist from such criminal acts to dare consequences.

While some of the arrested lucky Commissionaires have been released through concerted efforts of the Command, the unlucky ones have been handed over to the relevant authorities for prosecution.

To avoid the repetition of such ugly incidents, all officers and Men are hereby directed to adhere strictly to this warning as the military police have been given the mandate to arrest all unauthorized persons found wearing camo.

PASSING OUT PARADE ACTIVITIES SCHEDULE

Due to the National Independent Parade which requires active participation of the Command's key principal Staff officers, I am directed to inform all Officers and Men that the passing out parade of the Nigerian Legion Police Lagos State Command batch A has been rescheduled as follows: DATE: Tuesday 3rd October 2023
Time : 11,00am prompt

Venue: HQ Nigerian LEGION, Lagos State Safety Arena Bolade Oshodi Lagos.

ONLY personnel who have successfully completed their revalidation exercise and fully paid for kits and certificates as well other financial obligations will be admitted into the Nigerian Legion Police Corps. Personnel with incomplete data and error in the arrangement of their names are advised to rectify same on or before 30th of September as no certificate will be issued after the passing out date.

NIGERIAN LEGION AUXILIARY ARMS(COC) PERSONNELS DOES NOT HAVE THE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS TO DO AS FOLLOWS:*

*°doesn't have the Constitutional rights;To detain a non-personnel of the Legion(civilians)as any case of arrest must be handled over to the civil police or Military Police.*

*°doesn't have the Constitutional rights;To wear the Nigerian Army carmouflag uniform and any uniform that is not authorized from the Nigerian Legion.*


*°doesn't have the Constitutional rights;To keep or observe duties/activities that is unofficial/unauthorized by any unit/division/council of the Nigerian Legion.*

*°doesn't have the Constitutional rights;To seize and hold on to properties(exhibit) without lawful order*

*°doesn't have the Constitutional rights;To give operational es**rt or patrol to anyone/company without official permit and consent.*

*°doesn't have the Constitutional rights;To move or travel from one state to another on Legion uniform without official pass or consent.*

*°doesn't have the Constitutional rights;To wear cap or whatever wear that has special forces logo, except the personnel is part of the state operation strike team.*

Personnels of the Nigerian Legion COC should note that the above stated rules are to guide your behavior in the civil population and should stand as your code of conduct.

OFFICE OF THE STATE COMMANDANT NIGERIAN LEGION LAGOS STATE COMMAND

I am directed to inform all Officers and Men that, with effect from 1st of October 2023. Any Personnel who fail to revalidate his or her data shall not be considered as member of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissioniaires Lagos State Command.
Area /Unit Command found culpable shall be subjected to diciplinary action while personnel of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissioniaires from neighbouring State who are working under Lagos State Command are advised to get transfer letter from their respective State Command as the Lagos State Command will not tolerate any personnel performing duty within the jurisdiction of the Command without clearance from the appropriate authorities. Any personnel who violet this directive shall be arrested and charged for impersonation.
Further more, you are to adhere to the content of this letter as no excuse will be entertained.

NIGERIAN LEGION LAGOS STATE COMMAND PAY FAMILIARIZATION VISIT TO THE NEW COMMANDING OFFICER 9 BRIGADE IKEJA CANTONMENT

The Nigerian Legion Lagos State Command led by the Deputy Commandant General Wolimoh Akeem Olawale and Asistant Commandant General (CNC) OPEYEMI AUGUSTINE today 5th Aguest 2023 pay a familiarization visit to the new Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Adegoke Moses Adetuyi. The Chairman Nigerian Legion during the farmilization visit gave a concise, brief and impactful history of the Nigerian Legion. The aims, mission and vision.
The Chairman in his speech elaborates the function of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissioniaires (CNC) and enjoined the Commander to assist and support the Legion Corps of Commissioniaires in the area of recognition. The Commander 9 Brigade Brigadier General Adegoke Moses Adetuyi
noted that He was happy to receive the executive officers of the Nigerian Legion Lagos State Command and reaffirms the Chairman speech. According to him, having served as acting Director of the Veterans Affairs, on arrival in Lagos, I have been observing and waiting to see if Legion is not existing In Lagos State. He noted that the Nigerian Legion Lagos State Command is blessed with a leanerd and out spoken Chairman and wish the other States can be of such calibar and expressed his happines in playing host to the Chairman and his team. He acknowledged that he has so much respect for the Legion as he pray to served and retired successfully one day.
Speaking further, the Commander lament on daily incidents of impersonation, improper dressing and act capable of bring down the pretigious name of the Nigerian Legion and expressed willingess to support the Nigerian Legion.
He noted that the composition of the Legion need to be looked into vividly to reflect the real aim of the organization
As the Legion is basically meant for those that have served either as an officer or as a soldier.
He noted that, membership of the Nigerian Legion is not open to dismissed personnels of the armed forces or a personnel who is not honorably discharged from the military service. He acknowledged the imperativeness of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissioniaires (CNC) being an enacted part of the Nigerian Legion to support the retired personnel and as well serve as tools to the Nigerian Legion in discharging its mandate and generate funds for the said objectives.
He further highlights the security implications of putting on the military kits by people who are not members of the military. Speaking from experience, he advised that the issue should be tackled at the National headquarters. He expressed his worries on challenges observed on assumption of office as the Brigade Commander. Most importantly how to tackle the high population of fake soldiers which constitutes serious security threats, and how the Legion uniform has being misused by so many out there. He complained bitterly stating that civilians don't know the difference. He noted that Legion should take proper control of its Commissioniaires and cautioned that he is not comfortable with the rate which the COMMISSIONAIRES are impersonating the Army and enjoined them to be proud of putting on their uniform as prescribed in the act. He further emphasises on the issue of uniform and advised that it should be looked into to have a distinctive uniform that can look different from that of a serving soldier. He stated that he will be happy if the information is passed across.
He noted that the senior officers in the Armed forces don't like associating with the Legion retirement because of the arrangement of the leadership scale. He stated that it is easier if people that can make use of their personalities for the development of the Legion comes in.

He acknowledged that Nigerian Legion Lagos State Command is a strong Command and gives kudos to the State Council.

He pledge that the Brigade will be of support to the Legion and he stated that Legion being a extension of the constituency will receive whatever support that can be given under his watch,
Commenting on the issue on board Major AA Nasir the OC MP 9Brigade
stated that the Legion should implement operation checkmate and help the military in eradicating criminals hiding in the military uniform. He appreciates the Nigerian Legion for usual cooperation and solicit for support and collaboration to ensure the success of operation checkmate of fake Sodiers and dismissed personnels of one military or paramilitary who now uses the uniform to commit crime.

The State Secretary Nigerian Legion Lagos State Command Comrade Salami Nasiru on his closing remark thank the Commander and his team and pray God continue to be their defense and promised that the Command will sit to discuss further on the areas been outlined and necessary action will be taken for collective good.

IMPLEMENTATION OF MINISTRY OF DEFENCE DIRECTIVE ON UNIFORM AND OTHER RELATED MATTERS.

The Chairman Nigerian Legion Lagos State Command has cleared the air on the controversies sorrounding the demotion and promotion of the Personnel of the Nigerian Legion Lagos State Command.
It is pertinent to note that, the ranking structure of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissioniaires as directed by the honorable Minister, Ministry of Defence via letter VAD/808/2/ADM dated 27th October, 2016 stating that ranks of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissioniaires be changed with effect from 01 January 2017 and adoption of green and brown uniforms respectively. It is pertinent to note that the implementation of these directives was partially done by the Lagos State Command in the recent past. However, the current administration under the leadership of DCG Wolimoh Akeem in his sagacity as an iconic member of the National Council of the Nigerian Legion considers this directive a sacrosanct obligation that must be fully implementation as directed by the Honorable Minister of Defence, for the best effect and fulfillment of all purposes it was targeted to hit.

In view of the above, the new identity card shall bear the approved ranking structure of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissioniaires as directed. Ranks and promotion shall be strictly awarded on the basis of merit, appointment, year of enlistment and qualifications.
Personnel of the Command are therefore advised in their own interest to address themselves based on the rank awarded on undergoing performance evaluation procedure. This is the best way we can gain back our lost glory. Personnel hanging ranks they can not defend are further advised to desist from wearing such rank with immediate effect.
The Command henceforth shall not be responsible for any act of lawlessness committed by personnel not duly known or not been directed to act in an unlawful manner.
It is an established fact that, the security agencies do not have any problem with the Nigerian Legion. Hence, we can not afford to see Men of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaire the prominent element discharging the mandate vested on the Legion been molested through our leadership style.
