Ginika - S01 E03

“Don’t even give me that look Aina, you will stop the cooking, dress up and go to that hospital now” she exclaimed.

They rushed out of their room in disarray.

They got into the cab and headed to the hospital.

There was an obvious unrest.

Memories visited Ginika.

She got lost in her one thoughts.

She had a flashback memory.

FOUR YEARS AGO.
“Ginika, I am not feeling fine, I think my blood is getting hot and I am getting uncomfortable” Daniel said as he grunt in pain.

Ginika was buried in her book, she ignored him. He cried and wallowed on the bed.

“Ginika, please I am not getting myself” he exclaimed.

She snapped at him. “What? Leave me alone, who knows where you got yourself harmed, I don’t have time for this, I will call mum for you” she said, picked up her book and left the room.

She sat outside reading when she heard the horn or the car blaring, it was her mother’s car, she ran to the gate to open up.

“What are you doing out here and where is your brother?” Her mum quizzed.

“I’m just here to read, he is inside” she replied.

She resumed her reading. She suddenly heard a scream from inside.

” Help! Help! Ginika help!!” She exclaimed.

She ran inside and saw his brother lying lifelessly in her mother’s hand.

” Get the key to the car, get the key!” She yelled.

Ginika ran to pick the key and also joined her mum in lifting Daniel into the car.

She sped to the family hospital while the mother sat with Daniel on her lap at the back of the car, she called his name and prayed.

They got to the hospital, Ginika rushed out of the car and sped into the hospital for help, the nurses rushed out with a stretcher and placed him on it. He was rushed into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Ginika and her mother were denied access into the ICU, they paced the corridor of the hospital restlessly, her mother cried and prayed simultaneously while guilt was carved on Ginika’s face.

Her heart raced and could almost escape from the cage or her ribs.

Few minutes later, the doctor came out of the ICU. His head dropped, a sad face.

They ran to him.

“Doctor, how is he? Can we go and see him now?” They asked.

He sighed.

” Only if he was brought in earlier, I am sorry Mrs James, Daniel is gone” he said and walked away.

Ginika - S01 E02

Few seconds later, he spoke up.
“I’m sorry ladies, I’m fine now”

“Are you sure? You dont look like someone that is fine and besides what was that, you scare the hell out of us” Aina said as she looked into Ginika’s face.

“I’m sorry, I need to get going now before it’s too late, it’s getting darker already” he said.

“Are you sure you can travel like this and aside that, it’s getting…”

Aina interrupted.

” He said he would be on his way and I’m sure he is better now, aren’t you Ephraim?”

He nodded in affirmation and stood up gently, Ginika supported him to stand up. Ginika’s expression wasn’t sure of what Aina said.

She looked into Aina’s face with a pitiful expression that shows care for Ephraim but she totally ignored her expression and replied to her with a blunt frown.

Ephraim walked out in a calculated step while they both followed him. His steps were slow and his legs fiddled faintly as he took each step. Aina held his hand in support of his movement.

Ginika came along from behind. A motorcycle sped by and Aina stopped him. Ephraim sat on the motorcycle and faced the ladies.

“I am sorry for scaring you, it’s just a mere medical issue, I will go straight to the hospital when I get to town, nice meeting you Ginika, I hope I didn’t mess up my first day with you” he said with a faint smile.

“No, it’s fine, please take good care of yourself.” Ginika replied with a smile.

” You should get going now before it gets darker than this.” said Aina. The motorcycle sped off.

Ginika walked into the house, Aina walked briskly to her and pulled her back.

“Babe, what was that all about?” She exclaimed.

Ginika looked at her quizzically.

“What was what? What are you talking about?

” really? You don’t know? Why are you trying to make him stay back? ” she yelled with anger written all over her face.

Ginika looked confused.

Guilt filled up Aina, she raised from the bed and crawled to her.

” I’m so sorry for your brother, it’s not that I am heartless too, I was only scared and didn’t know what to do, I’m sorry too” she said.

She held her hand and they exchanged smiles.
