PROFILE OF MOBOLAJI OLUGBENGA PITAN
From his tender age as a pupil of Lagos Island Local Government Primary School, Mobolaji Olugbenga Pitan aka Father has been a strong voice for equality, honesty, kindness, and service to humanity. He is a leader on issues of importance to the less privileged, a virtuous man, perfect gentleman, philanthropists and it’s no surprise he was nicknamed Ologun Ebi (the man with the antidote to hunger) Bolaji Pitan aka Father was born in Lagos Island at the Lagos Island Maternity on November 24th, 1972 to the family of Late Pa David Ibikunle Pitan and Madam Sarah Romoke Pitan at No. 16, Olowu Street Lagos Island. His father was a reputable politician who served as the Chairman of ward G2 under the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) before he was elected as the councilor. Due to his exemplary representative’s role in parliament, he was returned to office and served the people of Lagos Island Local Government for three terms. He had primary and secondary education on the island soil where he distinguished himself. Bolaji Pitan proceeded to the prestigious University of Lagos to study insurance and he graduated in flying colors. In his quest for more knowledge, he earned his first masters in Public Administration from the University of Lagos. Not satisfied with just a Masters being an exceptional and brilliant student he enrolled for another masters program this time in transportation and Management Planning between 2006 to 2008.
According to him, he said this will help him use his expertise to make Lagos State better and work for us all. Bolaji attributes a large part of his call to the service to his childhood days when he occasionally followed his father to his ward meetings; there he was exposed to the importance of living an exemplary life as done by his late father. Bolaji is a man that sees every day as an opportunity to be charitable, one of his many guiding principles is that as you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others”. Bolaji Pitan is a committed public servant who’s known as hard-working and has a problem-solving spirit to the civil service in all positions he has held. This selfless service and commitment to making life better as exhibited by his leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu makes Father as he is popularly called enjoy a cordial relationship with the progressive politicians in Lagos State. Bolaji Pitan has devoted more than half of his life to public service and is guided by the belief that the greatest gift an individual can give is service to their community. He is a friend to the old and young, loved by all, because of his humility and generosity. With over a decade of experience working in the Civil service in Lagos State, Bolaji Pitan is focused on making life better for thousands of people and will also provide better representatives for the people of Lagos Island. Pitan has a strong record as a problem solver for Lagosians and he’s been recognized with several awards from many organizations for his support of the elderly, their families, and those who have served. Bolaji also served on numerous boards, committee and charitable organization in the state either serving as Chairman, member or Patron. He is also lifelong supporter of Arsenal Football Club.
