"I WISH I WISH MUSICAL DRAMA @ National
I Wish I Wish, a musical drama was performed on the biggest stage in Nigeria, the National Theatre. The musical dance drama drew a distinguished audience of dignitaries and creative industry personalities. Among which was the Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Mrs. Tola Akerele, the GM/CEO of National Theatre was chief host. Also, the Lagos State Governor was represented at the occasion. Veteran actresses Joke Silva and Stella Damasus were among the prominent guests in attendance.
The production tells the story of a young girl sent reluctantly to her grandmother's village, who upon encountering a colony of ants wishes to become one — only to discover, after her wish is granted, that ants are among nature's most industrious creatures. Missing her former life, she eventually regains her humanity, emerging wiser and more grateful. The drama delivers a timeless moral lesson on contentment and the consequences of careless wishing, and its staging at the National Theatre shows the institution's commitment to promoting theatre as a vehicle for cultural expression and social education under the leadership of Mrs. Tola Akerele.
The musical dance drama was the second such collaboration between National Theatre, Proud African Roots and Grandma Wura.
