A mother of a child with low birth weight, Mrs. Aminat Hamzat has expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government for providing quality health care services at the Maternal and Child Centre, MCC, Epe.
Hamzat, a resident of Cotonou, Benin Republic, also appreciated the Medical team and the entire management of the hospital for their unwavering support during and after her delivery.
The patient who traveled to Epe to visit her mother, suddenly went into labor when her delivery date was yet ahead.
Thankfully, Hamzat who was rushed to Epe MCC, gave birth to twin babies at 30 weeks 5 days gestational stage, but unfortunately lost one of the babies.
In her words, "After losing one of the babies, the nurses and doctors have been very supportive, trying their best to ensure the deceased baby survives.
“He weighed 1.3kg at birth then dropped drastically to 0.9kg which was underweight so they had to admit us to monitor and give him intensive care.
“It has not been an easy task being a mother to a premature baby but with the help of the nurses as well as the standard equipment provided by the government, the situation was not as bad as it would have been. Although I couldn't carry my baby at birth because he was too small I'm very happy I have one alive,” stated the mother of the newborn.
She further advised expectant mothers to register at MCC closer to them to benefit from what the government has provided in the State secondary health care centers.
