The Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs today held its statutory meeting at the Lagos Island Division of the State.

The meeting, which was organised by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, was presided over by the Permanent Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Babatunde Riliwanu Osuolale Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos and focused on discussions aimed at sustaining the peaceful co-existence being enjoyed across the State, as well as strengthening collaboration with Government at the grassroots level.

During the meeting, traditional rulers deliberated on ways to effectively cascade Government policies and programmes to their various domains to ensure that the dividends of governance are felt by residents across communities in the State.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote unity, development, peace, and community engagement in line with the vision of the State Government for a Greater Lagos.

Also present at the meeting is the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development; Mrs Kikelomo Bolarinwa as wells as other Management Staff of the Ministry.

PS, Ministry of Local Government, Receives Youth Ambassadors, Commends Youth Development Efforts

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, has commended the Ministry of Youth and Social Development for its sustained efforts in youth development across Lagos State.

The commendation came during a meeting with a delegation of Youth Ambassadors representing various divisions of the State at her office in Alausa, Ikeja. Mrs. Bolarinwa praised the Ministry’s initiatives, emphasizing that “the youth of today are indeed the leaders of tomorrow,” and stressed the importance of equipping young people with skills, values, and opportunities to thrive.

Recalling that her career in the Lagos State Civil Service started as a Youth Development Officer, she highlighted her enduring passion for youth empowerment.

She further outlined the Ministry of Local Government’s mandate, which includes overseeing all 57 Local Government/Council Development Areas, Community Development Associations, Chieftaincy Affairs, rural community development, and youth employments initiatives which aligns with the THEMES Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Mrs. Bolarinwa expressed the Ministry’s willingness to collaborate with the Youth Ambassadors on rural empowerment programmes, capacity building, and promoting social inclusion at the grassroots level.

Leader of the delegation, Mr. Olukosi Julius, Director of Youth Development at the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, explained that the Youth Ambassadors Programme aims to develop young leaders across the State. Selected from over 50 applicants per division, the ambassadors’ visit allowed them to familiarize themselves with the Ministry’s activities.

He therefore thanked the Permanent Secretary for her reception and affirmed the Ambassadors’ commitment to promoting peace, unity, and youth participation in their divisions.

The delegation included selected ambassadors from Ibile Divisions— Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos, and Epe.

Highlights of the visit included presentations on the Ministry’s programmes and interactive sessions between the Permanent Secretary and the Youth Ambassadors.

Also in attendance were all Directors and management staff of the Ministry.

Today, the Lagos State Government honoured and celebrated the life and reign of the Akran of Badagry, His Royal Majesty De Wheno Aholu Menu Toyi I, who lived from September 1936 to January 2026 and reigned from April 1977 to January 2026.

The event was graced by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, alongside the Deputy Governor, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, as well as dignitaries from various walks of life, all gathered to honour the enduring legacy of His Royal Majesty.

Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa Accompanies New Cabinet Office PS, Mrs. Toyin Oladeji, to Office

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, earlier today led the management staff of the Ministry to accompany the newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office, Mrs. Toyin Oladeji, to her new office at Alausa, Ikeja.

In her remarks, Mrs. Bolarinwa showered encomiums on Mrs. Oladeji, describing her as a seasoned administrator whose dedication, commitment, and hard work were clearly demonstrated during her tenure as Director of Administration and Human Resources in the Ministry.

“Mrs. Oladeji served this Ministry with distinction. Her professionalism, team spirit, and result-oriented approach contributed immensely to our institutional growth. We are confident she will bring the same level of excellence to the Cabinet Office,” she stated.

Mrs. Bolarinwa also urged staff of the Cabinet Office to extend maximum cooperation and support to the new Permanent Secretary to enable her succeed in delivering on the mandate of her Office.

The brief ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Establishments & Training, Mrs. Toyin Ogunlana alongside management and staff of the Cabinet Office, as well as friends and well-wishers who came to celebrate Mrs. Oladeji’s elevation.

In her response, Mrs. Toyin Oladeji expressed appreciation to Mrs. Bolarinwa and the management staff for the confidence reposed in her, pledging to justify the trust through diligent and dedicated service in her new role.

Today, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, alongside members of the Ministry’s management team, joined in celebrating the recently appointed Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Oladeji Oluwatoyin, on the occasion of her birthday.

Warm encomiums were shared in her honour, accompanied by heartfelt prayers for continued grace, sound health, and many more fulfilling years of impactful service and life.
