LAGOS ACCELERATES FOOD SYSTEMS TRANSFORMATION, CALLS INVESTORS TO DEEPEN ENGAGEMENT

The Lagos State Government is modernizing the State’s food systems, calling on investors to participate in its flagship projects. Speaking at the Stanbic Nigeria Business Summit, Ms. Olusanya highlighted the Lagos Central Food Security Hub, the Imota Rice Mill, and the Produce for Lagos Programme as platforms that de-risk investments and support youth-led agribusiness development.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has emphasized the vital role of agricultural cooperatives in achieving food security, noting that over 60% of the State’s vegetables now come from local farmers.

The Governor made this known while delivering the keynote address at the Future of Agriculture Conference, organised by BusinessDay Newspaper at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems embarked on an extensive inspection tour across farms in preparation for the Produce for Lagos initiative. This tour is aimed at assessing readiness for produce offtake and strengthening the state’s food supply chain. During the visit, evaluation of farm operations, crop quality, production capacity were carried out.
