The Lagos State Chapter of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Movement (BATM) was officially inaugurated on Saturday, 24th January 2026, at the Ikeja Sports Centre, Oluwaleyimu Street, Ikeja.
The colourful and grand event also witnessed the formal endorsement of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a second term in office, in appreciation of his transformational leadership and infrastructural development across the country.
The programme brought together highly revered politicians, government functionaries, business moguls, community leaders, and members of the press.
Representing the Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) in Lagos State, Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, was the immediate past Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State, Hon. Tunde Balogun. In his remarks, he noted that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is transforming Nigeria and deserves the unwavering support of all Nigerians. He described it as a great disservice to the nation if citizens fail to support the President at this critical time, given his unprecedented strides in governance.
Hon. Balogun further stated that President Tinubu is the only Nigerian President since Independence implementing the national development master plan, citing the ongoing coastal road project that will connect about nine states for commercial and commuting purposes. He added that governors and politicians from other political parties are defecting to the APC because of the Presidentโs pragmatic and visionary leadership, and he highlighted key policies in education, economic reforms, and social welfare.
The Deputy Chairman of APC Lagos State, Hon. Moshood Olanrewaju Mayegun, commended BATM members for their outstanding efforts. He conveyed the message of the State APC Chairman, who was unavoidably absent due to the ongoing e-registration exercise. He expressed the partyโs confidence in the activities of the movement and assured that BATM would be issued a certificate of recognition by the state. He spoke in his capacity as the Deputy Chairman overseeing the affairs of support groups.
While conducting the endorsement process in a unique manner, Hon. (Barr.) Olawale Ajala, who represented the Federal Legislator, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu needs the continued support of Nigerians to complete the good works he has started. He said Nigerians must appreciate that the President has repositioned the country on the global stage through bold administrative reforms and unprecedented infrastructure development.
The National Coordinator of BATM, Hon. Ahobee Emmanuel Dondonen, during the official inauguration of the state chapter, commended BATM Lagos for its tremendous performance. He stated that Lagos State has recorded exceptional progress since the emergence of the new State Coordinator, Hon. Femi Abiola Afikuyomi, JP.
State Executives and Local Government Coordinators were duly inaugurated, while Ward and Polling Unit Coordinators were formally recognised. Appointment letters were also presented to deserving officers.
Earlier at the programme, another notable Federal Legislator from Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency, Hon. Benjamin Adeyemi Olabinjo (BAO), commended the movement for its foresight in endorsing the father of the nation and President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a second term. He stated that nothing should be more important to any patriotic Nigerian than giving Mr. President another term, as one good term deserves another.
Representing the Secretary of Conference 57, the Vice Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Hon. Mrs Oluwatoyin Awoniyi-Akerele, reiterated the call by earlier speakers urging all BATM members to vigorously canvass for increased participation in the ongoing APC e-registration. She affirmed that party membership is not by paying lip service but by being bona fide, registered members of the party.
Notable personalities at the programme included Dr. (Erelu) Gbemisola Alabi (National Woman Leader of BATM), Hon. Kafayat Akinpelu (Southwest Woman Leader), Chief (Mrs) Shola T.O.S. Benson (Matron of BATM Lagos), Dr. Adeyanju Oyetoyan (Director, Ministry of Health, District 1), Mrs Bimbo Olasunkanmi Bello (Director, HR, Ministry of Works), and BATM State Coordinators of Ogun and Ekiti States, among others.
The state inauguration and endorsement of the President were widely welcomed within political circles. Beyond politics, the event provided a common ground for collaboration, progress, and unity for Nigeria regardless of tribe or religion. It also underscored the need for Nigerians to join the ruling party to further support the current administration in delivering people-oriented benefits to the masses.
