Assembly Race :Why We Endorsed Female To be Benue Assembly Speaker - Group

The coordinator of the ambassadors for good governance Group, Honorable Saidu Richard Aondona has on Sunday reiterated it's stand for the endorsement of Honorable Mrs.Beckie Torkwase Orpin better known as Vande Kwase u Jemgbagh'. member representing Gboko East constuency as the 10th Benue State Assembly Speaker under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Honorable Aondona who is also a former special assistant on community relations to the Benue State governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom said that the group endorsement of Mrs. Orpin who is from the Eastern part of Gboko, was purely for equity, fairness and justice.
Aondona made the assertion in an inclusive interview with our Business Day correspondent over the weekend,
stressed that, Honorable Beckie Orpin deserves to be on the seat more than the male politicians from the zone and the entire State, considering her experience, and her years of been a vibrant female politician in the Benue State.
According to Aondona, Mrs Beckie Orpin was appointed Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly from 1999-2001. Following her excellent performances, she was found worthy of elevation as Special Assistant Media and Publicity to the Executive Governor of Benue State from 2001-2007.
Added that She was later appointed Media Assistant to Senator George Akume between 2007- 2015 which she served as Special Assistant Media to the Minority Leader of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Honorable Beckie also appointed Sole Administrator, Gboko Local Government Council in October, 2016. In recognition of her excellent performance as sole administrator, the people of Gboko local government area found her worthy of electing her as Executive Chairperson of the local government council in June, 2017.
He further said that With the above positions, no doubts of Beckie been performing well as the state Assembly Speaker, if given opportunity, because she has made indelible marks in the lives of many people through her kind gestures and humanitarian activities, the impact of these activities at individual and community levels can not be exhausted in any single publication.
Described Beckie as a "Woman with a heart of gold who has sacrificed alot for humanity and is still ready to do much more..A woman with an uncommon spirit of service, loyalty, compassion and consistency.
Some of these few undeniable efforts are:- Retainership with Atuna Clinic for free treatment of vulnerable people and the less privileged, Organization of free medical outreach for the testing and treatment of cervical cancer, Facelift of Gboko town through rehabilitation and beautification of major roundabouts within Gboko town in line with the mandate of the local government, Construction of an ultra modern fruits center at Genyi, Yandev.
Others are Rehabilitation of selected township roads within Gboko metropolis, Opening up of rural access roads, Ongoing construction of police station with staff quarters in Yandev (80%) completion, Sinking of bolewhores to alleviate water scarcity in rural communities.
Scholarship to disadvantaged children in primary and post primary institutions of learning. Hon Beckie is always focused and well experienced. She is also a member of many professional bodies including, Member, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Radio Benue Chapter, Member, NAWOJ, Radio Benue Chapter, Member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Member and Chairman, Catholic Media Practitioners, Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, and finally Member, RATTAWU, Radio Benue Chapter.
He explained that Beckie Orpin has been a loyal member of the party without any issue of anti party activities and rancor among the stakeholders of the party.
Aondona said those qualities made people to adjudge her as the best of the best friendly female politician He also argued that Beckie Orpin possesses all the qualities required to lead the 32 Honorable members of the Benue State Assembly Speaker and believes she will deliver on the mandate without difficulties.
He urges the Benue State honorable members to use their knowledge wisely and ensure that they vote for the right candidate in the person of Honorable Beckie Orpin as the next 10th Speaker of the Benue State, Nigeria.
