George Akume Gave 7 Million Naira As A Thank You To Those Of Us Who Were Opposing Third Term -Farouk Aliyu

APC chieftain, Farouk Aliyu, has revealed that former Benue State Governor, George Akume, personally rewarded lawmakers who resisted pressure to support the third term bid, giving them 7 million naira each while others were being offered far larger sums.

Aliyu explained that at a time when some officials were receiving as much as 250 million naira to back the third term agenda, Akume instead called a meeting of those who opposed it and handed out smaller amounts as appreciation.

He recalled that Akume openly acknowledged their stance, telling them he understood their hearts were not in the third term push, and offered the money as a simple thank you, even as car sales were ongoing at Eagle Square at the time.

In Farouk Aliyu's words, "He (George Akume) was governor of Benue State. When they were giving 250 million to other people, George Akume called a meeting of us who were against the third term. George Akume gave us 7, 7 million naira. At that time, car sales were going on at Eagle Square. So he said, 'Look, I know you people's heart is not in this, you don't want this thing. So let me just give you this as a thank you.' When others were collecting a minimum of 50 million, he gave 7 million naira to all of us who refused to go along."
