Yesterday, the Director-General received a delegation from Search for Common Ground, who paid an advocacy visit to the Commission’s Headquarters to explore opportunities for collaboration on peacebuilding initiatives.
The meeting also availed a platform where other relevant areas of mutual interest were discussed, with a view to strengthening partnerships and promoting sustainable peacebuilding efforts.

We successfully launched our 2026–2030 Strategic Plan alongside the Peace Summit of the Commission on February 25, 2026, at the new Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, with support from Nigeria Spring , Caritas Nigeria and IOM.
The Summit was declared open on behalf of the Governor by his Deputy, Barr. Sam Ode, mni, also in attendance was the Minister of Livestock Development and key stakeholders across government, security agencies, traditional and religious institutions, civil society, and development partners.
The launch of our Strategic Plan marks a major milestone in strengthening Benue State’s peace architecture through coordinated conflict prevention, early warning and response, mediation, and reconciliation.
This engagement reinforces our shared commitment to advancing sustainable peace through inclusive collaboration and collective action across the state.

The Benue State Commission for Peace and Reconciliation held its bi-monthly coordination meeting with peacebuilding implementing partners on 5th February 2026.
The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration, review ongoing peacebuilding interventions, share updates on progress and challenges, align strategies, and enhance information-sharing among partners to promote effective, coordinated, and sustainable peacebuilding efforts across Benue State.

On February 3, 2026, the Benue State Commission for Peace and Reconciliation, in partnership with GoGreen Environmental Health Sustainability Initiatives hosted a strategic one-day workshop for Community Peace Committees (CPCs).
The session focused on learning and adaptive approaches, equipping members with advanced skills in mediation, dialogue facilitation, and conflict resolution by fostering a collaborative environment.
This initiative underscores the Benue State Commission for Peace and Reconciliation 's unwavering commitment to sustainable, community-led reconciliation across Benue State and beyond.

In a continued effort to strengthen peace, stability, and security in Benue State, Governor Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, alongside the Director General of the Benue State Commission for Peace and Reconciliation and other dignitaries, paid a visit to key security authorities in Abuja.
At the meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff (CD), General Olufemi Oluyede, on January 30, 2026, the Governor emphasized that ensuring the welfare, well-being, and sustainable development of Benue State within a peaceful and secured environment remains a central focus of his administration.

The Benue State Commission for Peace and Reconciliation, with support from UNHCR, Caritas Nigeria, and the UK Government, held a town hall meeting in Naka today.
The meeting included ADR and Community Facilitation training for Traditional Rulers and Peace Committees from Gwer West and Gwer East LGAs, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community-led peacebuilding, with more LGAs to follow.
