As the world marks World Cancer Day, the Wife of the Executive Governor of Niger State, Her Excellency, Hajiya Fatima Mohammed Bago, has called on individuals, families, communities, and institutions to unite in the fight against cancer through awareness, early detection, prevention, and compassionate support for those affected.
The Wife of the Governor described cancer as a human challenge that touches families, livelihoods, and communities, stressing that many cancer-related deaths can be prevented through timely screening, accurate information, and access to quality healthcare.
"Cancer does not discriminate. It cuts across age, gender, and social status. However, with the right knowledge, early diagnosis, and collective responsibility, many lives can be saved,β she stated.

She encouraged women to prioritize regular medical check-ups and screenings, noting that early detection remains one of the most effective tools in cancer management.
She also commended healthcare workers, caregivers, and organizations working tirelessly to provide care and support to cancer patients, acknowledging their dedication and compassion in the face of immense challenges. In line with the vision of the Executive Governor of Niger State, His Excellency, Farmer Governor Umar Mohammed Bago, to strengthen healthcare delivery and promote preventive health practices across the state, The Wife of the Governor reaffirmed her commitment to supporting initiatives that improve cancer awareness, access to screening, and community-based health education.
