As part of the State-level Inclusive Digital Transformation Project (SITEP), we hosted a Policy Co-Creation Workshop aimed at strengthening the state’s digital transformation agenda. The SITEP initiative is supported by the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) under the Digital Access Programme and implemented by Tech4Dev with the approval of the Executive Governor of Niger State His Excellency the Farmer Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago.

The workshop focuses on validating research findings, reviewing the current state of digital policies and institutions, identifying infrastructure, skills, and regulatory gaps, and agreeing on clear policy actions to drive inclusive digital transformation. Discussions are aligned with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS 2020–2030) and other national frameworks to strengthen coordination and prevent policy fragmentation.

Outcomes from the workshop will inform the development of the Niger State Digital Economy Policy Framework and guide priority actions for implementation across the state.

Our Ministry is partnering with Maizube Farms to drive staff welfare and promote smart agriculture.

After a fruitful discussion between our Commissioner, Suleiman Isah, and the MD of Maizube Farms, Mustapha Abdulsalam, a team of agricultural experts visited our Ministry to chart a way forward.

The goal? To help our staff cooperative own and manage greenhouses — boosting nutrition and creating new income streams. Retiring staff will also have the opportunity to benefit from this initiative post-retirement.

As part of the partnership, Maizube Farms will:

Plant economic trees around our premises (for shade, windbreaks, and fruit production)
Train our staff in modern agricultural practices
Serve as a pilot site for our smart agriculture prototypes
We’re blending digital innovation with agriculture to empower our staff.
