NIGER SSG CONDEMNS BANDITRY ATTACKS IN ERENA, BAGNA AND YELWA COMMUNITIES, SHIRORO LGA
The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, has strongly condemned the heinous and senseless banditry attacks that occurred in Erena Bagna and Yelwa communities of Shiroro Local Government Area of the State, which led to the tragic loss of innocent lives and destruction of property as well as displacement of people of the affected communities.
Reports indicate that heavily armed bandits invaded the affected communities in large numbers, shooting sporadically, setting houses ablaze, and causing panic among residents.
Alhaji Usman described the attacks as barbaric, inhumane and a direct affront to the peace and security efforts of the present administration. He expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as to the entire people of Shiroro Local Government Area.
“The Government of Niger State is deeply pained by this tragic development. These mindless acts of violence against innocent citizens are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We share in the grief of the affected families and assure them that Government stands firmly with them in this difficult time,” the SSG stated.
He assured Nigerlites that the State Government is working in close collaboration with security agencies to intensify operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements from all parts of the State.
Alhaji Usman called on residents to remain calm, vigilant and continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that will aid ongoing operations.
He reiterated the unwavering commitment of the administration of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, to safeguarding lives and property across Niger State.
“Government will not relent in its efforts to restore lasting peace and ensure that perpetrators of these dastardly acts are brought to justice,” he added.

SUBJECT: ACTIVITIES TO MARK WORLD INTERNATIONAL HEALTH DAY
I am directed to inform all Staff, Directors and Management that the Ministry of Health will be organizing activities to commemorate this year’s World International Health Day.
The activities will commence on 6th April, 2026 with a radio talk show, and will feature a free medical screening on 7th April, 2026 for non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and cancers by 10AM. In addition, HIV screening will also be conducted.
However, due to the invasive nature of certain cancer screening procedures, such screenings will be carried out on a targeted basis, based on individual medical history and presenting symptoms.
Accordingly, all Directors of Administration (DAs) are requested to ensure adequate mobilization of staff to take full advantage of this important health initiative.

NIGER SSG CALLS FOR UNITY, PEACE AND REFLECTION DURING EASTER CELEBRATIONS
The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, has extended heartfelt Easter greetings to the Christian community and all residents of the State, urging them to embrace the spirit of renewal, forgiveness and unity that the season embodies.
In a statement issued by Lawal Tanko, Coordinator Press Affairs, SSG' office disclosed that Alhaji Usman highlighted the significance of Easter as a time of hope and resurrection, drawing parallels to the ongoing efforts by the State Government to foster development and harmony among its diverse population.
"Easter reminds us of the triumph of light over darkness, love over hatred and peace over conflict. As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us reflect on our shared values and commit to building a more inclusive and prosperous Niger State," the SSG stated.
Emphasizing the administration's commitment under Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, Alhaji Usman noted that the administration remains dedicated to promoting religious tolerance and interfaith dialogue.
He commended the Christian faithful for their contributions to the State's socio-economic growth and assured them of continued support in upholding their rights to worship freely.
The SSG also called on all Nigerlites to use the Easter period for personal introspection and community service, particularly in supporting the less privileged. "In line with our New Niger Agenda, we encourage acts of charity, reconciliation and solidarity. Let this Easter inspire us to work together towards a brighter future for our children," he added.

1. SSG NIGER STATE ATTENDS INAUGURATION OF APC DIGITAL MEDIA SUB-COMMITTEE AHEAD OF NATIONAL CONVENTION
The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, joined Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago at the official inauguration of the APC Digital Media Sub-Committee, held in preparation for the upcoming APC National Convention scheduled for 27–28, March 2026, in Abuja.
During the inauguration, Governor Bago, who serves as the Sub-Committee Chairman, emphasized the importance of digital communication in amplifying the party’s achievements and bridging gaps in public engagement.
Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Co-Chair of the committee, and Otega Ogra, SSA to the President on New Media, also provided strategic insights to guide the committee’s operations.
2. SSG NIGER STATE ATTENDS NORTH CENTRAL ZONAL APC CONGRESS IN NASARAWA
Alhaji Abubakar Usman participated in the North Central Zonal APC Congress, held at the Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The congress convened APC leaders, governors, and stakeholders from the North Central Zone to deliberate on strategies for sustaining the party’s dominance and fostering unity within the region.
3. SSG ATTENDS FUNERAL OF LATE FATIMA HAMIDU JANTABO
The Secretary to the Government of Niger State joined other Muslim faithful at the Minna Central Mosque to attend the funeral prayer for the late Fatima Hamidu Jantabo, elder sister to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mu’azu Hamidu Jantabo.
The prayer was led by Deputy Chief Imam of Minna, Habibu Abubakar Mai-basira. Speaking at the event, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago described the death as a great loss and extended his condolences to the bereaved family.
He encouraged them to remain steadfast in their faith and find solace in the will of Allah.
4. NIGER SSG JOINS FARMER GOVERNOR MOHAMMED UMARU BAGO AT APC NATIONAL CONVENTION 2026
Alhaji Abubakar Usman accompanied Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to the 2026 APC National Convention, held at Eagle Square, Abuja.
The landmark event brought together 8,453 delegates, 32 APC governors, and top dignitaries, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other key stakeholders.
The convention featured the re-election of all APC National Executives through a consensus voting process, a strategic move aimed at fostering unity and preparing the party for the upcoming general elections.
President Tinubu, in his address, emphasized the need for national unity and reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving electricity supply, empowering women, and addressing Nigeria’s challenges.

The prayer conducted at the Minna Central Mosque was led by the Deputy Chief Imam of Minna, Habibu Abubakar Mai-basira.
The farmer governor described the death of Hajiya Fatima Jantabo as a great loss and extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate and extended families of the deceased.

1.Directive to Political Appointees on Elective Offices
Alhaji Abubakar Usman issued a statement directing all political appointees and public office holders intending to contest elective positions in the 2027 General Elections to resign their appointments by March 23, 2026.
This move aligns with electoral laws and ensures compliance with guidelines set by INEC for party primaries, scheduled to begin on April 23, 2026.
