IIRS EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, FINANCE COMMISSIONER HEADLINE INTERSWITCH TECHCONNECT 6.0 IN OWERRI
The Executive Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Justice R. Okoye (FCA), and the Commissioner for Finance and Coordinating Economy, Imo State, Chuck C. N. Chukwuemeka, were keynote speakers at the Interswitch TechConnect 6.0 held on Thursday, 24th September, 2026 at Protea Hotel, Owerri.
Themed "Built For What's Next: Designing Adaptive Financial Infrastructure for a Dynamic Market," the event convened leaders in finance, technology, and government to discuss the future of payments and revenue administration.
In his keynote, Justice Okoye questioned whether current financial infrastructure can keep pace with a rapidly changing economy. He noted that the real issue is no longer whether systems can support today's economy, but whether they are adaptive enough for tomorrow's.
"The economy is becoming more digital, more connected, faster, more data-driven and more complex. Our infrastructure must connect, understand, respond, scale and evolve," he said.
He stressed that financial infrastructure must be secure, trusted and built for tomorrow's possibilities, noting that it goes beyond banks to include institutions, processes and people. For revenue administration, he said it rests on connected pillars such as data, technology, institutions, analytics, and skilled professionals.
He added that adaptive infrastructure must integrate systems securely, comply with regulatory requirements, leverage feedback and data, and remain resilient during disruptions. He emphasized that no institution can achieve this alone, calling for stronger collaboration with citizens and the private sector.
"The future will not wait for infrastructure to catch up. We must build for what is next — a wider digital economy," he stated.
Also speaking, Commissioner Chukwuemeka discussed designing financial infrastructure for a dynamic market, aligning the State's fiscal reforms with the need for responsive, technology-driven systems to drive growth.
The TechConnect 6.0, organized by Interswitch Group, also featured other industry speakers including Robinta Aliyu (CSO, Interswitch), Nomso Ebonwu, Dr. Kalu Nnachi, Tyoila Aga, Suliat Aliyu, and others.
