‎IMAGINE A FAMILY WITH 117 CHILDREN — AND 111 OF THEM UNIVERSITY GRADUATES! 👑🎓
‎
‎This is one of the extraordinary historical stories associated with HRM Oba Sir Olateru-Olagbegi II, the Olowo of Owo, whose remarkable family legacy continues to generate conversation decades after his passing.
‎
‎According to historical accounts, Oba Olateru-Olagbegi II left behind 117 children — of whom 111 were university graduates.
‎
‎And the professional figures attributed to his children are astonishing:
‎
‎⚖️ 35 Lawyers
‎👨‍⚖️ 10 High Court Judges
‎🩺 25 Medical Doctors
‎📊 22 Chartered Accountants
‎🏗️ 23 Engineers
‎🎓 111 University Graduates
‎
‎That means the story was not simply about having a large family. It was also about a remarkable concentration of education and professional achievement within one royal household.
‎
‎But there is another extraordinary chapter to the story.
‎
‎Oba Olateru-Olagbegi II's father, Olagbegi I, was reputed to have had about 300 wives. Historical accounts further state that five of those wives were still virgins when he died. In the traditional Yoruba royal system of that era, large royal households were associated with the institution and responsibilities of kingship.
‎
‎Oba Olateru-Olagbegi II himself was born in August 1910 and became Olowo in 1941. He ruled for about 25 years, was removed from the throne during the political crísís of the 1960s, and eventually returned to the throne in 1993.
‎
‎He d¡ed in October 1998, bringing to a close the life of a monarch whose story combined royalty, politics, tradition, education and an extraordinary family legacy.
‎
‎More than two decades later, one question still stands out:
‎
‎How did one royal family produce 111 university graduates, including lawyers, judges, doctors, accountants and engineers?
‎
‎Owo history is indeed full of stories that deserve to be remembered. 👑

‎🔥 OWO IS ALIVE!
‎THE PALACE IS AGLOW
‎AND IGOGO 2026 IS BUILDING TO ITS GRAND CLIMAX!
‎
‎The ancient Kingdom of Owo is buzzing with excitement as the historic Igogo ‘Oghogede’ takes centre stage, with the kingdom counting down to the grand Igogo Ogwaluwaye on Wednesday, September 16.
‎
‎Today, Tuesday, September 15, the rich colours, royal traditions and unmistakable pageantry of Igogo filled Owo as Chiefs dressed in their traditional festival regalia converged on the ancient palace to felicitate with the Olowo and pay homage.
‎
‎The celebration has transformed the kingdom into a vibrant meeting point of tradition, royalty and communal pride, with sons and daughters of Owo from across Nigeria and the diaspora returning home to witness and participate in one of the kingdom’s most cherished cultural festivals.
‎
‎Igogo Oghogede is a significant stage in the annual celebration, further raising anticipation for tomorrow’s grand outing of His Imperial Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, Olowo of Owo.
‎
‎From the palace to the streets, anticipation is growing as residents, visitors, traditional institutions and cultural enthusiasts look forward to the spectacular Igogo Ogwaluwaye.

🚨 Iru Ekun is no thrẹãt to Amotekun, Ondo commander says as he clarifies both groups' roles. Ondo Amotekun Commander Speaks On Iru Ekun

‎The Commander of the Ondo State Security Network, also known as the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, has said Iru Ekun does not pose a thrẹãt to the corps.
‎
‎Adeleye made the clarification at the Amotekun headquarters in Akure while parading suspects arrested for various crímes across the state.
‎
‎He explained that Iru Ekun, a community-based regional security network founded by Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, operates differently from Amotekun.
‎
‎According to him, Iru Ekun is not established by law, while Amotekun was created through legislation.
‎
‎Adeleye stressed that both outfits do not operate on the same pedestal, while assuring residents that Amotekun, working with sister security agencies, will continue efforts to protect lives and property across Ondo State.
‎
‎Do you think Iru Ekun and Amotekun can effectively complement each other in community security?
