A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal on Sunday said the actions and utterances of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state has further worsened the crisis in Southern Kaduna, adding that the governor is not sympathetic to the issues in the area.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Independent, Lawal who condemned the marginalization of Christians in Kaduna and other parts of the North gave credit to a former governor of the state, Ahmed Makarfi whom according to him handled the crisis well during his tenure because he saw the issue from an ethnic and not religious point of view.

“Initially, I think from 1980, most of the problems of Southern Kaduna are ethnic. When Ahmed Makarfi became governor, he understood that most of the issues were ethnic than religious and he was able to address it. Roads were being constructed equally in all parts of the state; traditional institutions were strengthened in all parts of the state. Everybody was getting his fair share of the resources that the state has and the matter didn’t get out of hand”.

“The problem I see in Kaduna is that the state government led by Governor Nasir El-Rufai is not sensitive to the issues. Their utterances simply indicate that they are not sympathetic to the issues. Like I saw a write-up by Shehu Sani today, he said when it happened in Zamfara, government calls it banditry and they sympathized with the affected communities but when it happens in Southern Kaduna, government starts to explain what is happening, rather than calling a spade exactly what it is and sympathising with the people”

“So, it depends on how the government handles the issue at all levels; from the federal to the state to local government and ward levels. I remember when the banditry started in Sokoto and they overran a village, the state governor with all his cabinets went there to sympathi

I EAT INSULTS!…

Words on marble...

*ASIWAJU BOLA TINUBU TO THE FOLLOWERS*

Some people get easily angry whenever they see me being insulted. I think that is childish. I'm a politician and it is my right to be insulted. It is my right to be called names, it is my right to get bad wishes from whoever I outrun in the polity. Politics, sometimes, is a bully game, don't get distracted, keep your eyes on the ball."

"It is a game of number but equally important, a game of common sense with sole aim of improving people's lives with right policies. Mohammed Ali was a great boxer, he punched you once, he ran away, he made you angry so much that you lose your focus and balance, then he would hit you hard..Those who must beat him must never be angry or lose focus while fighting, keep your strategy to yourself....win some, lose some, that's politics but you must strive to win all but you can never win all."....

"As for insults and abuse, I have received uncountable insults since I joined politics. You can see where I am today politically. I'm a product of insults, left right and centre, that's my food and medicine.

I'm not complaining, keep it up..."

STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE:

PRESIDENT BUHARI AND TINUBU STILL TOGETHER, ANALYSTS NEED TO GET THEIR FACTS RIGHT

The very essence of the requests put to the Emergency National Executive Committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by President Muhammadu Buhari, which were unanimously approved aim to pull back the party, faced with an existential crisis from the brink of collapse, follow the constitution and take everyone along.

While this action has been widely accepted with great relief by lovers of democracy and the rank and file of the membership, we are concerned that political vulturism masquerading as “smart analysis” is selling the commentary that this is a Buhari-Tinubu “showdown.” Nothing can be farther from the truth.

To put the records straight: In the formation of this great party and giving it leadership, President Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who are reckoned as the founding fathers of the APC are both inspired by democratic norms, national interest and not at all by partisan motivations. These are the qualities that have made them move past cynical distractions.

They are in touch with one another. Their relationship remains as strong as ever and between the two of them, only they know how they manage their enviable relationship.

Try as hard as they could, the opposition parties have used all their intellectuals and their supporters in the media to break this relationship and have failed. And they won’t.

For President Buhari who has received much of the cynical commentary, Nigerians know him as someone who will not do anything with bad intentions. Neither will he do anything out of partisan motivations or for himself.

This whole exercise, that should lead to massive reform and overhaul of the leadership of the party, as he said in that brilliant speech, was ''to save the APC from the imminent self-destruction. We have to move ahead. We have to take everyone with us and ensure that the party is run in accordance with demo

ASIWAJU SPEAKS

"I look for talents that are better than me. I'm not afraid to bring on board people with higher wisdom because the most important thing to me is to get the job done for the betterment of all. I don't wait till zero hour to discover the next person to do the job or the next job to be done, from the first hour, I find them. The second, third and forth are as important as the first.

"Time waits for nobody. Even the obstacles on my way, I predict them before those that will bring them will start to think about them, I plan for betrayal, I plan for backstabbing, I also plan for reunion and forgiveness long before they happen. In life, I expect nothing, I expect anything, I expect everything.... "

TINUBU HAS LOSS NOTHING.

Whether the ongoing APC crises eventually consumes Senator Bola Armed Tinubu or not, nobody can deny the fact that the man is and will forever remain a collosus and a political enigma. When you consider the political wars he has fought and won and the number of people he has made what they are today in this Country, you cant help but wonder what kind of man is Asiwaju! Tinubu in my opinion remains one of the greatest politicians in the history of this Country. I may be wrong anyway. He deserves to be understudied by anybody who desire to go far in the politics of Nigeria. His longeivity and influence in the politics of Nigeria is nothing but legendary.

Tinubu as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria had colleagues. Where are they and what influence do they wield in present day Nigeria?

Tinubu as governor of Lagos State 1999 to 2007 had colleagues.Where are they today, 13 years after?

Among his then colleagues, only Senators Orji Uzor Kalu, George Akume, Chimaroke Nnamani, Danjuma Goje, and very few others are struggling to remain relevant in the politics of their various States. Who still remembers Rev Jolly Nyame of Taraba, Obong Victor Attah of Akwa Ibom, Chinwoke Mbadinuju of Anambra, Achike Udenwa of Imo, Lucky Igbenedion of Edo and even our own Donald Duke etc? These were all former governors that made similar effort to be the godfathers and the ultimate deciders of who gets what in their various States just like Tinubu but met a brickwall and today, they have all gone into political oblivion. How Tinubu maintained grip of lagos despite being the only opposition State as at then and has sustained it till this day makes him the master of the game. Give it to him!

Through his sheer political mastery and organizational acumen,he was able to lead his party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to win over the entire Southwest yet his political detractors didnt think he deserves some respect, they described him as a regional lea

Public Notice

In the spirit of each of us caring for one another during this unprecedented moment, we must all be willing to do what ordinarily we would not do. What in normal times might be considered improper or ill-mannered is now an act of compassionate responsibility. This is particularly true when it comes to acts of social distancing and other precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

In this vein, I would like to inform everyone that any gathering and any type of celebration associated with my birthday has been postponed for the time being. Given the challenge we now face, this is not the time for any form of public celebration or gathering to mark anyone's birthday. Such a celebration would be inconsistent with the measures we must take to protect our loved ones and the public at large.

Usually we all love to celebrate our birthdays with gatherings of family and friends where people mingle in close proximity. We cannot do this now. Hopefully I can speak not only for myself but for those who also have birthdays in the coming days,

We enjoin our friends, associates and indeed everyone hoping to come and celebrate the day with me to please support government’s efforts to contain the virus. You do this by staying at home, by observing personal hygiene, and by taking all necessary steps to stay safe.

At this moment, there is no better way to help me mark my birthday than for you to take every precaution to protect the health of our beloved people. That you remain healthy and alive will be the best gift you can give to me at this time. For now, this means staying at home. These are challenging times and we must all do all that we can to defeat COVID-19.

To safeguard public health, we have already cancelled the annual colloquium held on my birthday at which ideas and solutions are proffered to emerging national issues. Consistent with the postponement of the colloquium, there
