American Corner Port Harcourt

Yesterday at American Corner Port Harcourt, we hosted the Fulbright Alumni Association of Nigeria on the occasion of their 19th Annual Conference, which was themed "Leadership, Institutions and Nation Building: Challenges and Prospects for Nigeria."

On October 5th, 2024, The American Corner Port Harcourt hosted the International Climate Change Development Initiative Africa's event titled "Young Lawyers for Climate Justice: Defend, Advocate, Empower, and Sustain."

This event aimed to equip young legal minds with the knowledge and tools necessary to address pressing environmental justice issues and drive sustainable change across the African continent, promoting a community of passionate young lawyers.

This initiative aims to empower the next generation to become champions for climate justice, ensuring a sustainable and equitable future for all.

It was an impactful program indeed.

Successfully completed AI tools for academic success at American Corner Port Harcourt. (19th and 20th of August 2024) Thanks to the University Librarian, Prof. Helen Emasealu and The American Spaces Nigeria for their support.

On June 5th, 2024, the United States Government Exchange Alumni Association of Nigeria (USGEAAN), Rivers State Chapter, in collaboration with American Corner Port Harcourt, organized an educative quiz competition and art exhibition among five secondary schools in Port Harcourt to mark World Environment Day. The event also featured a paper presentation on Environmental Management by a professor from the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the American Corner Port Harcourt. Professor Helen Emasealu, the University of Port Harcourt librarian, was also present at the occasion and gave an opening remark.

American Corner Port Harcourt Celebrated International Day of Women and Girls in Science, at the university of Port Harcourt.
In the event was the University Librarian who is also the Director of American Corner Port Harcourt, Prof. Helen Emasealu and other dignitaries.
We had Young Girls from Five different secondary schools and indeed it was a huge success.

At the American Corner Port Harcourt yesterday, we had a successful Valentine's Day Celebration ♥
It was indeed the Celebration of Love, Our Theme this year "was Love for Humanity and Environment."
It was a moment filled with fun and excitement as we played games and danced with Music.

Today was truly remarkable at American Space Port Harcourt, as we welcomed esteemed guests, including the U.S. Consul General *Mr. Will Stevens* and his team, along with the Vice Chancellor *Prof.Owunari Abraham Georgewill*, the University Librarian, *Prof. Helen Emasealu* and some key officials from the University of Port Harcourt. The occasion was the program organized by *Media Awareness and Justice Initiative (MAJI)*, centered around the theme:- *Citizen Science for Newsrooms Project* A convergence of minds dedicated to advancing media awareness and justice.

At the American Centre Port Harcourt today, we received the Consul General Mr. Steven with his team and the Vice-Chancellor University of Port Harcourt, with some Principal Officers of the University during the Program organized by the Media Awareness Justice Initiative (MAJI) on "The Citizen Science for Newsroom Project".

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), Rivers state Hub, held their end of year Meetup and Handover Ceremony tagged,"Illuminate 2023 Conference/Handover Ceremony" at Amspaces PHC and the theme was "Leadership in a Democracy:Transitioning for a greater Good".
It was a Massive success.

Secondary Schools Debate on the topic:Consumerism Culture and its impact on Creativity and Innovation. This debate took place on the 28th of June 2023. Among these three schools: Marvel Academy Mgboba, Seed of Wisdom Secondary School Rumuigbo and University Demonstration Secondary School UDSS.
