MEETING GRACE 18+
GRAND FINALE💫
After having a taste of Candy’s candy, Gabriel’s mind wasn’t at peace. Throughout his way back home, he had flashbacks of the act that made him have a prolonged smile. At the same time, he felt bad and guilty thinking he just took advantage of Candy’s emotional situation. Candy too, had smiles all over her face as she was astonished by the doctors performance, but she as well had the guilt of perpetuating betrayal, and that made her sad.
Mercy, on the other hand, made up her mind to let go of her past without letting Gabriel know about it.
“ I think I’ll just let it pass without him knowing it. I’ll have to let by-gones be by-gones” said Mercy as she looked saddened.
“ ok…” responded Nathan, “but what are you going to do to cover up your child-bearing inability?” he asked
“ well, I have no option but to live with the guilt all my life. God might even work a miracle in me for the sake of his son Gabi, I just wont be free knowing that I’ve dragged Gabi into this mess” said Mercy, as she broke down in tears.
Nathan wouldn’t bear watching her break down mercilessly, so he walked toward the bed side where she was and hugged her for comfort. Mercy broke down more as she laid her head on Nathan’s chest.
Nathan couldn’t resist the temptation as he was thinking of that “last touch”. He leaned towards Mercy and kissed her. Mercy tried to resist, but in a moment she had to go with the wave and kissed back. Just when things begun to be passionate, Mercy let go of Nathan,” this isn’t just right Nathan. Am getting married tomorrow and we cant do this. I already am in a mess and wouldn’t want to add up to what I have already. I have to go now, see you at the wedding tomorrow. Good night” said Mercy as she left through the door, leaving Nathan in suspense and with a lot of thoughts.
Mercy got to accept the fact of her past and the consequences thereof, but she had already made up her mind not to let Gabriel have an atom of that truth. Nathan, on the other, couldn’t sleep peaceful throughout the night as he kept on feeling guilty seeing Gabi get into this mess that he started.
The long awaited day came. It was a beautiful Saturday morning, chilly and fresh, just a perfect weather for an event as a matrimonial union.
Everyone gathered at the church, all joys on their faces as they wouldn’t wait to see a great doctor and a God-fearing, beautiful damsel join hands in Holy matrimony. The two families, yet to be united, where already at the venue, happily seated as they waited for this happy moment. In the last role of the church’s sitting arrangement, was a young handsome man, putting on a slightly light grey pair of trousers, a white shirt, neat and well-fitting with the top two buttons untied, having a slim fit navy blue blazer on top. Nathan sat there all alone, with tinted shades and a heavy heart. Candy didn’t want to attend the wedding as she was not ready to see Gabi tie that note with Mercy, her jealous couldn’t just allow that.
Dressed in an all-grey checked slim fit suit, with a double-breast jacket, a white shirt and a plain black neck-tie bearing the prince Albert’s knot, his feet well-fitted in a pair of black Paul Smith shoes, and his face all filled with glittering smiles. Gabriel stood there in front of the whole congregation, as he watched his soon-to-be gorgeous, lovely, beautiful, perceived-innocent and God-fearing wife being confidently brought to the altar.
Despite Gabi showing all smiles, he had the guilt of betrayal in him as he still thought of the encounter he had with Candy the previous night.
Mercy was presented to Gabi, and they looked gorgeous together, in the eyes of the families, friends and indeed the pastor who was about to officiate their wedding.
The wedding vows were exchanged, and Gabi, though he wasn’t sure, said everything with an expression like he really meant it. Mercy on the other hand, had smiles all over her face and anyone could tell how deep she meant the words and vows towards her man.
Before the pastor could officially pronounce the two as man and wife, he called for the last appeal towards this union. “if there is anyone against the union of Gabriel and Mercy in Holy matrimony, say it now or forever hold your peace” said the pastor as he seemingly didn’t expect anyone to respond. The whole congregation went mute, as Mercy’s pulse rate went higher than her height.

About a minute of total silence, a young man from behind broke it. As he approached the front, Nathan boldly said, “ sorry to interrupt. My name is Nathan(he withheld his surname),and as some of you might know, I am the bride’s ex-lover.” At this moment, Mercy’s heartbeat ran at a supersonic speed, faster than the speed of light.
Nathan continued, ”I initially didn’t want this to happen, but my heart wouldn’t just let it pass. I couldn’t watch an innocent man suffer the consequences of my actions,..” just as he said this, tears begun to roll on Mercy’s cheeks, and Gabi was just standing there as surprised as any other person in the venue.
“Mercy, I am deeply sorry, I just have to let this out” said Nathan as he looked ready to spill the beans..” during our high school time, I and her[Mercy] had been dating. It was an awesome experience I had with her, as we did everything together, yes, even had s*x together”. The whole congregation was shocked and they thought they heard it all, not knowing the worst is yet to drop. Nathan continued, “it so happened that, during our s*xual activities together, she got pregnant. I was ready to take up responsibility, but she wasn’t willing to let the public know her private life. So she aborted the pregnancy, and that abortion came with complication that she would never again be able to conceive. I just couldn’t watch Gabi take up something he doesn’t know of, so I had to let it out now. I however wish you guys all the best.” Nathan left as soon as he finished wishing the two a good luck.
Gabriel, all shocked, had tears in his eyes as he watched everything being disclosed right at the altar. He couldn’t stand it anymore, so he notified his family that he was no longer interested in the marriage, as he walked out in anger and fury.
Mercy was left on the altar, guilty and embarrassed, she couldn’t help but break down in tears right there, with her family sympathizing with her.
Two weeks passed, and Gabi was all broken, that he couldn’t even go for work. He literally stayed home alone this whole two weeks, having thoughts as to whether he was just unlucky, or it was a signal that he and Grace were meant to be.
On a Sunday afternoon, as he sat beside his pool, gazing upon the sun’s beauty, he received a call, it was Candy calling.
“hello”, answered Gabi in a low tone
“hey doc, long time” Candy sounded happy to have heard Gabi’s voice after a long time.
“how have you been, Grace?” Gabi responded, still low. Candy was too excited to talk to him that she couldn’t notice his low tone.
“I’ve been good,” she responded, “congratulations by the way, am upset you couldn’t even ask why I didn’t show up, or better still send me your wedding photos” she teasingly said.
“ it’s a long story Grace” responded Gabi. It is at this moment that she noticed something wasn’t okay with Gabriel.
“is everything okay doc?” she asked, “can we talk about it? Can I come over so we can talk about it?” suggested Candy
“sure, you can” was all Gabi could say before the call was cut.
Candy quickly prepared and went to Gabi’s place. She found him looking broken and provided a shoulder for him to cry on as he explained everything that happened to her. Candy was really at how Mercy would hide something as sensitive as that from her lover till their wedding day. She was however grateful that the doc was notified right on time before he could tie the permanent knot.
Time and again, Candy would visit Gabi to make sure he was okay and provided companionship to help him fully recover from the disappointment.
Candy’s clubbing life ended, and she dropped the “Candy” name and opted to be called Grace. With the help of Gabi, Grace got to know Christ and together they strengthened their faith in God. The two later started officially dating, and furthermore tied a knot together and lived happily ever after. It was really fulfilling for Grace as she married someone who never gave up on her and made her a better person without judging her. For Gabriel, he was delighted to be with someone who never faked her identity, but accepted who she was and worked towards changing, above all ,he was happy to have a strong and supportive woman as a wife.
Mercy and Nathan re-united, and later got married too. And as Mercy thought, God worked a miracle in her as she managed to bear a child for Nathan.
