ADO ODO OTA LG BOSS CHARGES YOUTHS TO
SHUN SOCIAL VICES

The Executive members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN Ado Odo Ota Local Government Branch, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Council area, Hon Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA at his office in the Secretariat.

While welcoming the youth, the Council Boss, emphasized the importance of imbibing good character and upholding cultural values to foster youth and national development. He stressed the need to curb social vices and promote positive values and behaviors. He added that, the youth can become agents of change and contribute meaningfully to national development as the slogan of NYCN implies.

Furthermore, Hon. Lawal Wasiu, stated that his administration will inspire the youth to become active participants in developing their communities, the Council area as a whole and the nation at large. He called on the body to forward their request in black and white to the Council.

Earlier speaking, the NYCN Coordinator, Comrade Oparotimi Kazeem appreciated the Chairman and congratulated him for his victory at the recently concluded Council poll. He presented the request of the youths ragging from office accomodations, subventions and financial assistance towards youth summit.

The highlight of the visit, decoration of the Council Chairmanl as the Grand Patron of the body alongside presentation of the NYCN Constitution.

The Head of Community and Social Development Department of the Council, Mrs. Adeosun Racheal, appreciated the chairman for the warm reception and word of encouragements given to the body, she equally prayed for a successful tenure in office.

NYSC OGUN STATE COORDINATOR SEEKS SYNERGY WITH ADO ODO OTA LG ON WELFARE OF CORP MEMBERS


The Ogun state Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Mrs Olayinka Diana Nasamu, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman Ado-Odo Ota local government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA, at the council secretariat.

While welcoming the NYSC coordinator and her team, Hon. Lawal Wasiu acknowledged the significant contribution of NYSC to national development . He assured the state coordinator of the continual support of his administration on the welfare of corp members serving within the Council area. . He added that, Ado Odo Ota Local Government will make corps members more comfortable during their service year.

Earlier speaking, the NYSC coordinator, Mrs Diana Nasamu, expressed her appreciation to the Council Boss for the support and cooperation the NYSC has received from the Council. In her words, " I am here to seek collaboration and strengthen the synergy in the area of youth empowerment, education and community development".


Furthermore, the state coordinator solicited for revival of corp members monthly stipend by the council and the support in ensuring that welfare and wellbeing of corp members serving in the Council area. She appealed for the provision of adequate amenities such as accommodations, health care and security to enable corp members to discharge their duties effectively. She emphasized that, welfare of corp members is of utmost importance and the NYSC is committed to ensuring their safety and well-being.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of National Youth Service Corps Act to the Council Boss.

NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE OGUN COMMAND PAYS COURTESY CALL ON AOLG CHAIRMAN CALLS FOR COLLABORATION ON SECURITY.

The comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service NIS, Ogun State Command , Aliyu Muhammed Akadiri, today paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Ado Odo Ota Local Government Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA at the Council Secretariat.

While welcoming the Comptroller, the Council Boss Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA, appreciated the Comptroller for the visit and assured him of the readiness of his Administration to collaborate with the Nigeria Immigration Service to curb insecurity and illegal migrants within the Council area. He also commended the approach of the NIS Boss for reaching out to the the government at the local level. He called for synergy between the Council and NIS for the betterment of the residents of the Local Government area and the State as a whole.


Earlier speaking, the State Comptroller Aliyu Muhammed Akadiri thanked the Council Boss for his time and commended his efforts at promoting peace and order within the Council area. He highlighted the critical roles that local authorities play in maintaining national security. He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Immigration Service in supporting initiatives aimed at tackling illegal migration, human trafficking, and other immigration related issues within the Council area. He called the attention of the Council Boss to the vandalization of the Nigeria Immigration Service Office at Agbara by miscreants who has been on rampage at the axis.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of an Award of Recognition to the Council Boss for his efforts at combating illegal migrants within the Council area by the State Comptroller of NIS Ogun Command.


The Head of Local Government Administration, Alh. Junaid Wasiu Babatunde FCA thanked the NIS Boss and his team for the visit and prayed for a better Ado Odo Ota Local Government area.

NBRRI PARTNERS ADO ODO OTA LG TO TACKLE SECRETARIAT WATERLOGGING

The Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute NBRRI has pledged to assist Ado-Odo Ota Local Government in addressing the persistent waterlogging issues within the premises of the council secretariat.

During a meeting held with the Chairman Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA at his office today, the Director of Engineering Materials Department of the Institute , Dr Apeh Friday confirmed the readiness of NBBRI to commence work on the compound of the Secretariat , following a formal request from the Council.

Dr. Apeh revealed that the initiative was initially set in motion by the former Chairman, Dr. Sheriff Musa, who had approached the Director General alongside the Olota of Ota, Oba Professor Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege to request for the support of NBRRI. He further explained that the Institute had conducted site measurements and all necessary preparations are now completed for the project to begin.

While welcoming the team, the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu expressed gratitude to the NBRRI team for the update. He reflected on his previous tenure as Transition Chairman , noting that his administration had also written to NBRRI to seek assistance for the same issue. He commended the effort of immediate past administration in advancing the project and reiterated the importance of partnerships with organizations like NBRRI in addressing infrastructural deficits in the Local Government area.

The Council Boss expressed optimism about future collaborations. He emphasised the role of corporate bodies and government institutions in maintaining the reputation of the Council as a “Local Government of distinction”. He also urged NBRRI to prioritize youth development through job creation, skill acquisition programs, and other empowerment initiatives.

In his remarks, Dr. Apeh highlighted NBRRI’s ongoing interventions within Ado-Odo/Ota. He noted that the Institute had used its innovative interlock bricks to pave the palace and residence of the Olota of Ota and had recently constructed a block of two classrooms at Iganmode Grammar School, which is set to be commissioned soon. Dr. Apeh also mentioned NBRRI’s collaboration with the Federal House of Representatives member, Engineer Tunji Akinosi to equip the youths with skills and appealed to the Council for support in providing tools for the trained youths.

Present at the meeting with the Chairman were, Dr Apeh Friday who was accompanied by Dr Samuel Ajayi, Engr. Babatunde and Asiwaju Abayomi Oke.

ADO ODO OTA LG CHAIRMAN INAUGURATES 9TH LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL MEMBERS.

In a ceremony marking a significant milestone in the history of Ado Odo Ota Local Government, the Chairman Alhaji Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA inaugurated the 9th legislative council as a step forward in fostering development, transparency, and accountability in the governance of the local government area.

The proclamation of the 9th Legislative Council took place at the Legislative chamber of Ado Odo Ota Local Government with the presence of representatives of the State Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun CON and the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Alhaja Noimat Salako-Oyedele FNSE ably represented by Chief Jide Ojuko Senior Special Adviser and Hon. Kola Salako Senior Special Adviser respectively.

The newly inaugurated Legislative members from the 16 political wards of the Council area, pledged their commitment to serving the people and upholding the principles of democracy with good governance.

In his proclamatory speech, the Council Boss, appreciated Almighty God and the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, for a transparent election that produced the victorious Councillors into the Legislative Council of Ado Odo Ota Local Government. He also appreciated the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Engr. Noimat Salako-Oyedele FNSE, for her positive role at the recently concluded Local Government elections. He extended his heartfelt appreciation to all political leaders and party faithful in the Council area.

Alhaji Lawal advised the honourable members to see their positions as a call to service, and development and for peaceful co-existence between the Legislative and Executive arms. He added that they should enact laws that will contribute to the development of the Council area

The 9th legislative council commenced their legislative functions by electing the principal officers. Where Hon. Gbadamosi Mutairu from Ilogbo ward emerged as the Leader of the House, Hon. Oseni Lateef Alapoti ward as the Deputy Leader, Hon. Bankole Surajudeen Igbesa ward as the Majority Leader and Hon. Noimat Balogun Ota III as the Chief Whip.

The Leader of the Legislative House of Ado Odo Ota Local Government Hon. Gbadamosi Mutairu in his acceptance speech appreciated the Executive Chairman Alhaji Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA, the Vice Chairman Hon. Mrs Abosede Balogun, Honourable members, the management team, all APC party chieftains and other well-wishers for giving him a new beginning, a new appellation, a new responsibility and a new obligation as honourable leader of the 9th legislative Council of Ado Odo Ota Local Government.

In his words, "Today marks a milestone in our political history. Hence, we are ready to make a positive history for the entire people of the Council area. Like the State acronyms, ISE IYA, we shall strive hard to see that the development of Ado Odo Ota Local Government through the dividend of democracy is widely spread to all nooks and crannies of the Council area. Let me say emphatically that we shall make you all proud through achievements at the end of our tenure".

Dignitaries present at the event were the Vice Chairman Ado Odo Ota Local Government, Hon. Abosede Balogun, the Head of Local Government Administration Alhaji Junaid Babatunde FCA, Directors and Head of Departments, party leaders and party faithful, amongst others.

ADO ODO OTA LG CHAIRMAN MEETS ZONAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE ASSURES ON OPEN DOOR POLICY.


The Chairman of
Ado Odo Ota Local Government Alhaji Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA met with the Zonal Community Development Committee of the Council area at his office where key issues affecting various communities were discussed.


The Council Boss appreciated the association for their support at the recently concluded Local Government election poll. He assured them of the support of his administration, emphasizing on their crucial roles in generating revenue for the council.He seek the support of the committee on
community rates that serves as the backbone of the council in terms of internally generated revenue and other collectables fees.

Furthermore, the Chairman assured the committee members of his openness and accessibility at all times. He stressed on the illegality Of revenue collectors to operate at odd hours and promised to address the issue.

Earlier speaking, the Chairman of Ado Odo Ota Local Government Zonal Community Development Committee Alhaji Olatunji Rasak Onaolapo, appreciated the Council Boss for honouring their courtesy visit and highlighted several concerns of his committee which included
the practice by revenue collectors operating at odd hours, the need to improve relationships between the communities and local police amongst others.

*Olota, Onilogbo, Oloja-Ekun, Olodan, Oloruba & Other Awori Obas Commend Ado-Odo/Ota Council Chairman for His Ingenuity*

Not less than six monarchs in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government witnessed the commissioning of projects by the SAM 20-led administration. The event which took place on Thursday, 18th, and Friday 19th of July, 2024 had in attendance, Olota of Ota, Oba Prof. Abdukabir Adeyemi Obalanlege; Onilogbo of Ilogbo-Asowo, Oba Barr. Samuel Ojugbele; Oloja-Ekun of Igbesa, Oba Abdulazeez Akinde; Olodan of Odan Abuja-Sule, Oba Engr. Teslim Nosiru; Oloruba of Oruba-Ota, Oba Wadud Deinde; and Alatan-Elect, Prince Akinyemi Isiyemi.

The projects commissioned cut across the two state constituencies in the Local Government. Amongst the projects commissioned is a 106 lock-up shops at the LG Staff Quarters which have been named Oba Prof. Abdukabir Adeyemi Obalanlege Shopping Complex, Osi-Ota. Others include a Primary Health Centre with a detached toilet facility at Isalu in Alapoti Ward; a Block of 2 Classrooms with an office at Community Primary School, Afobaje; and a block of 3 classrooms at A.U.D Primary School, Iju-Ota; including lock-up shops at Lusada Market & Atan Market respectively among others.

All the Monarchs commended Engr. Sheriff Musa for his ingenuity. They noted that despite the challenges faced by the Council helmsmen in all the twenty local government areas in Ogun State, it is soothing to note that SAM 20 was able to carry out nothing less than 40 landmark projects during his 3 years tenure.

They prayed for the Chairman and wished him God's guidance in his future endeavours.
