As of April 2024, a staggering 1.3 million Nigerians were displaced across ten northern states due to violence. Bandits have claimed thousands of lives and left countless others homeless. To prevent long-lasting consequences, we must take decisive action to curb the effects of terrorism, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

We strongly condemn the gruesome attack on innocent worshipers in Owo. This evil and barbaric act should have no place in our country.

We urge the commander in Chief, the Governor of Ondo state, and the head of all our security agencies to leave no stone unturned until the perpetrators are found and brought to justice.

Additionally, those in authority must do much more to stop the bloodletting in our country. Too many people are killed needlessly, just as so many properties are destroyed. The state must wake up to its primary responsibility; which is the protection of lives and properties.

Our prayers and best wishes are with those who have sustained various injuries from this attack and are struggling for their lives at the Federal Medical Center, Owo. Our condolences also go out to the families of the deceased.

May the Almighty comfort their loved ones and grant them the fortitude to bear this painful loss.

ABOUT
Oluchi Victoria was born in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria, into the family of late Mr. & Mrs Jonah Eke and Janet of Amorji Amabo Okoko Item, in Bende Local Government Area. She is married to Earh Bradford Jr. and is blessed with a son - Darrus and a granddaughter, Janet.

In her formative years - in 1982, while at Girls High School, Aba, Oluchi was spotted by the scouts of the Grasshoppers’ International Handball Team, Owerri, Imo State. At the time, the Grasshoppers were one of the best Handball Teams in Nigeria. She was subsequently recruited and her sporting career launched.

During Oluchi’s time with the Grasshoppers, the team was able to conquer Africa for many years. In 1984 - still a teenager, Oluchi’s sporting consistency paid off; she was honoured with Best Player Award at the Africa Junior Championships of the game she excelled so much at.

Oluchi’s well-earned award easily distinguished her from her peers and subsequently, she became highly sought after within the handball community all over the world.
However, in 1987, Zaoni Meuble Club of Tunisia won the bid to engage the services of this rare athlete. She played for the Tunisian Club for three years.

Oluchi's major break would come in 1990 when the Colorado springs of USA signed her up for a four-year contract. From Colorado Springs Stars, USA, she moved to Beuxtclude in the German Division, and afterwards to Hyposuedstadt Austria, SSV Schoren, Dowbirm, Austria, ZV Handball MCD Wiener Neustadt, Austria, LC Bruchl and St. Gallen, Switzerland, placing Nigeria and Abia State - on her sojourns, on the world map of international and professional sports.

A five-time champion of Nigeria, Africa cup champion from 1987 to 1989, a four-time American Champion, four-time most valuable player and highest goal scorer for six consecutive years, Oluchi has left her footprints on the sports sands of time forever. She’s also in the history books as the first African female professional handball player.

All these years, Oluchi flew the Nigerian flag high and proudly wherever duty called and she never let her Country down.

In 2003, Oluchi was named as one of the best female athletes in the world by the editorial board of the flagship publication of the International Handball Federation.

Oluchi is extremely passionate about her state, Abia. She has since invested Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars in programs aimed at giving back to the country, state and community of her birth.

In addition to her list of empowerment programs, Oluchi recently founded a Women Empowerment Group called "Little Woman Group, Maryland", USA, a group through which she reaches out to the less fortunate women in rural areas of Nigeria by way of aligning them with super role models and better-living facilitators in the diaspora. These facilitators are proven philanthropists like herself who would mentor them and lead them into more fulfilling, purposeful lives away from poverty and the monotony of destitute existence.

She has been involved in lots of non-profit humanitarian organizations, runs several successful businesses and has been the founder and pillar of a plethora of sporting and socio-cultural endeavours since her retirement from sports. These include:

❖ Founder, little woman group
❖ Founder, Global Youth Movement
❖ Founder, Gwogwoson Sports Foundation

Manifesto

The pride and excitement every Abian had at the creation of Abia State in 1991 have all but evaporated. The state’s status as the alphabetical number one state in the Nigerian federation swelled hearts with love and eagerness to embark on the journey of reinvention and economic empowerment. The founding fathers proceeded to designate the beautiful state - with good reason, as God’s Own State. Abians always held their heads high where-ever they found themselves.

Unfortunately, that is no longer the case.

Presently, after 31 years of statehood, we are like 31 years backwards. The dreams of our founding fathers seem to have all been trashed and defeated. And what we see and experience today is more akin to a nightmare. Totally orchestrated and manmade by MEN.

Where exactly did this rain start beating us?

Unfortunately all the men we have entrusted the leadership of our state all these years have colossally and shamefully failed us.

As the Ada-Ugo Abia, I've stepped forward to clear the mess and restore back our State; I'm here to put Abia back as the number one State in the Country. I'm here to build a new team of intellectuals and industrialists to restore Abia State back to what it should be but have never been.
The condition of Abia state breaks my heart and I’ve decided to come back home to clear the mess as Nwa-Ada.

Ada-ugo, Oluchi Victoria Ogwo is back.

Only the best is good enough for Abia.
We have betrayed our founding fathers long enough.

The incoming new Government of Abia state under my leadership will be creative and go beyond the present mediocrity which made its predecessors virtually a burden to the system.
If APGA delegates nominate me and Abians elect me, I will mobilise for:

Infractural Revolution

Our state is decaying, my administration will initiate and execute a revamped turnaround of Umuahia, our State Capital, and Aba, our Commercial nerve centre. They and other neglected parts of our dear state will be our topmost priority.

It is only an Abia that is developed that can attract investors and promote businesses. All our local Government Areas must have a good linking Road connecting to each other. Our rural ring-roads must be chained and connected to each other.

Education:-

No State can achieve viable growth in other sectors of its economy without good educational plans. Today, our Government Schools - Primary and Secondary, have been left to rot away. Our higher institutions are not left out of the rot. This is an area where round pegs must be put in round holes.

Health Care

Health is wealth, first and foremost my administration will ensure that all existing hospitals and health centres are properly equipped and functional. All personnel in our hospitals and health-care centres must be properly catered to, too.

Agricultural Revolution

Abia is abundantly blessed with fertile lands that can push the state into becoming one of the leading states in farm produce. If nominated by my party and voted in by Abians, my administration will ensure that farmers in the State will be encouraged by opening multiple motor-able farm roads in all our rural areas. Grants, soft loans and other welfare packages for our farmers will be paramount and farmers will be incorporative blocks to enable them to have easy access to local and international grants.

Security

We shall focus - on the relevant agencies, to ensure that lives and properties are adequately protected within the state. It is only a secured state that can aspire to development.

The welfare of Abia Workers:

it will be my uppermost priority to ensure that workers in the State are all paid as soon as their salaries are due. The very shameful era of workers being owed after discharging their duties will be a thing of the past.
Our senior citizens, the pensioners, will never be neglected again, God forbid that those who sacrificed the better part of their lives will be made to live in sorrow.
