PRESS RELEASE
D'GRIOTS CHILD'S OUTREACH TO HOST PUBLIC DISCOURSE TO MARK WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2026
Theme: Lost Childhood, Lasting Wounds (Understanding Lost Childhood and Lifelong Mental Health)
Uyo, Akwa Ibom State —In commemoration of World Mental Health Day 2026, D'Griots Child's Outreach, an Anti-LOST CHILDHOOD initiative, will host a Public Discourse themed "LOST CHILDHOOD, LASTING WOUNDS: Understanding Lost Childhood and Lifelong Mental Health".
The virtual discourse is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 7th October, 2026 by 6PM WAT and will be streamed LIVE on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn via D'Griots Child's Outreach.
Featuring leading mental health voices: Akanimo Oriowo (Dee Counselor), Executive Director, Rebuilders Foundation and Udeme Okono, Psychotherapist and Founder, Teletherapy Nigeria, this discourse is an intervention programme designed to offer direct benefits to childhood development and lifelong mental health
The enormous benefits of the session includes:
* Parents and caregivers being able to recognize when a child is being forced to grow too fast and learn simple, practical ways to restore safety, play and emotional support at home.
** Equip teachers, faith leaders and community workers with skills to identify hidden childhood wounds and respond with care, not punishment.
*** It will help young people understand how early life experiences shape adult mental health, self-esteem and relationships, and where to seek support without shame.
When a child loses the chance to be a child, the wound does not disappear — it follows them into adulthood. This discourse is about naming that wound, understanding it, and collectively giving childhood back. Healing must start early.
The public is invited to join the live conversation, ask questions, and be part of the movement to protect the childhoods of tomorrow.
