THE 6TH HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY SERVICE COMMISSION HAS CONDUCTED PROMOTION EXERCISE FOR STAFF DUE PROMOTION.

The Chairman Bayelsa State House of Assembly Commission Hon. Dein Benadoumene, pep-talked staffers to be at ease stating that promotion exercise is not a witch-hunt, but rather a platform to assess employees in order to advance them to a higher cadre.

Hon. Dein, made this statement during the promotion interview conducted for January/July 2023 and January 2024 staff due promotion on Monday 21st May 2024 at the Commission’s Conference Hall annex 5 Ovom Yenagoa.

The Chairman stated that promotion to a higher cadre comes with a proportionate increase in responsibilities. Adding that staffers should embrace the responsibilities ahead in order to meet expectations.

He also emphasizes the importance of promotion to the Civil Servant stressing that Staffers due for promotion should put their documents in order, for proper documentation.

The Clerk of Bayelsa State House of Assembly Mr. Kent Adogu, admonished staffers to make sure that they dot the I’s and cross the T’s. he wished staff due promotion success quoting that when preparation meets opportunity success is inevitable.

The highpoints of the exercise were the oral interview session and the written examination conducted. Also present were the Commissioners of the 6th Assembly and the Secretary of the Commission Pastor Gershom H. Zuobara.

FAMILIARIZATON KEY TO ACHIEVING CORPORATE GOALS – HON. DEIN ADMONISHES STAFF OF BYHASC

The Chairman, Bayelsa State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. Dein Benadoumene, has urged staffers of the Commission to work as a team in order to achieve corporate goals.

Hon. Dein Benadoumene, made this call during a 3-day familiarization meeting with staff of the Commission on Friday, 10th May 2024 at the Commission’s conference hall, Secretariat Annex 5 Ovom, Yenagoa.

The Chairman who emphasized the need for familiarization with staff in order to foster synergy between staff of the Commission and those at the House of Assembly Complex stated that it would aid staffers carry out given assignment maximally.

Hon. Dein said that the meeting will improve welfare of workers, and will also proffer solutions to the issues staff of the Commission & those at the House of Assembly complex may encounter and as well give the Chairman and Commissioners of the Commission insight on the challenges staff encounters in order to provide a more conducive working environment.

He also notified the Commission that funds for promotion exercise have been approved, stating that within three to four weeks from now, the 6th Commission will carry out promotion exercise for staffers due promotion.

The Clerk, Bayelsa State House of Assembly Mr. Kent Adogu, in his remarks appreciated the 6th Commission on seeing the need for familiarization noting that it would give a common ground to proffer solution to issues workers encounter while pleading with the commission to embark on training and retraining of staff.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) Comrade Ekakara Ebiotu Peres prayed that the Commission should set up a Pensions Board that it would give staffers a soft landing to enjoy benefits of their service when they retire.

The Commissioner for Media, Mr. Godwin Iworikumo representing Yenagoa LGA appreciated the Commission for coming-up with this meeting of familiarization stating that it is a first of its kind. He said the 6th Commission will continue with this spirit to provide a more enabling working environment.

High points of the meeting was when issues where raised for discussions/deliberations and solutions were provided by the Chairman and Commissioners of the Commission.

Also present in the meeting were Commissioners of the Commission, the Secretary of the Commission Pastor Gershom H. Zuobara, the Deputy Clerk Josiah Sunday, Staff of the House of Assembly and members of PASAN.

BYHA COMMITEE ON PUBLIC SERVICE TO PARTNER COMMISSION FOR IMPROVED SERVICE DELIVERY

In a bid to ensure effective synergy for improved service delivery, the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Committee on P***c Service and Establishment paid a familiarization visit to the State Assembly Service Commission on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the State Secretariat Complex, Annex 5, Road Safety Road.

The visit led by the House Committee Chairman, Hon Col Bernard Kenebai, member representing Sagbama Constituency 2, noted that part of its oversight function was to rub minds with the leadership of the Assembly Service on the needs and assessment of the Commission and how best to improve the condition of the workplace and staff welfare.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon Col Kenebai, expressed the importance of the familiarization visit, assuring the commission of collaboration and good working relationship towards achieving a successful end.

The Chairman of Assembly Service Commission, Hon Dein Benadoumene, who expressed his delight over the visit conducted the team and other commissioners round the offices.

Other members of the committee present were Hon Mrs Ebizi Ndiomu Brown, Sagbama Constituency 3 and Hon Ted Elemeforo, Yenagoa Constituency 3 while Commissioners of Assembly Service Commission include Hon Iniyobiyo Numomidogiyo, Hon Ebiundu Komonibo, Owudogu Kozigena, Mrs Apretari Ogugu, Wurukumor Godwin, Isikuru Joseph and Clever Munafa and it’s Secretary, Pst Gershom Zuobara.

BYS ASSEMBLY COMMISSION GETS NEW CHAIRMAN, 7 COMMISSIONERS

The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the appointments of eight nominees for the State House of Assembly Service Commission earlier sent to the House by the State Governor, Sen. Douye Diri.

They include: the immediate past Chairman of the Commission, Honorable Dein Benadoumene who retained his position, Honorable Iniyobiyo Numomidogiyo, Honorable Ebiundu Komonibo and Owudogu Kozigena.

Others are; Mrs Apretari Ogugu, Wurukumor Godwin, Isikuru Joseph and Clever Munafa.

The screening was held on Tuesday, 8 August 2023 at the plenary session of the House presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt Honorable Abraham Ingobere at the State Complex Hollowed Chamber.

Speaking to newsmen after the exercise, Honorable Dein disclosed that one of the first task of the Commission was to conduct promotion exercise for all staff due promotion for the 2023 January and July batch.

The Chairman noted the commission would also prioritize the intensive training and retraining of its staff to enhance their productivity as well as enshrine discipline in the Commission.

The incoming Chairman pointed out that one of the challenges he faced during his previous tenure was the lack of adequate office space but however, expressed optimism the commission would return to the premises of the Assembly Complex as opposed to its current location at the State Secretariat in Annex 5.

He pledged loyalty for maximum performance to keep the Assembly Service alive and working for the betterment of all Bayelsans.
