GOVERNMENT SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

THIS IS TO INFORM ALL SELF EMPLOYED PERSONS, INDIVIDUAL TAX PAYERS, AND OWNERS OF BUSINESS WITH CAC REGISTRATION OPERATING AND DOING BUSINESS IN BAYELSA STATE THAT THE DUE DATE FOR FILING OF TAX RETURNS FOR INDIVIDUALS AND CORPORATE ORGANISATIONS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO APRIL 15, 2026 WHICH RELATES TO 2025 YEAR OF ASSESSMENT.

YOU ARE, IN LINE WITH SECTION 101 OF NIGERIA TAX ADMINISTRATION ACT (NTAA) WHICH SAYS "A TAXABLE PERSON WHO FAILS OR REFUSES TO FILE RETURNS OR KNOWINGLY FILES INCOMPLETE OR INACCURATE RETURNS TO THE RELEVANT TAX AUTHORITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT, SHALL BE LIABLE TO PAY AN ADMINISTRATIVE PENALTY OF (1) 100,000 NAIRA IN THE FIRST MONTH IN WHICH THE FAILURE OCCURS AND (2) 50,000 NAIRA FOR EACH SUBSEQUENT MONTH IN WHICH THE FAILURE CONTINUES.

Individual taxpayers are required to register on the Bayelsa State e-tax self-service portal via etax.bir.by.gov.ng using their National identification Number (NIN) and date of birth, ensuring that the date of birth provided is correctly linked to their NIN.

Upon a successful registration, a user profile will be created and login credentials issued.

Thereafter, taxpayers should follow the procedures to complete and submit their tax returns.

Procedure to Filling individual Tax Returns:
• Log into profile using your registered BIN and password
• Click on “Tax Returns”
• Click on “File Returns”
• Fill in the required information as applicable to you
• Click “Submit”

KINDLY BE REMINDED THAT THE DUE DATE FOR FILING OF TAX RETURNS FOR INDIVIDUALS AND CORPORATE ORGANISATIONS IS NOW APRIL 15, 2026 WHICH RELATES TO 2025 YEAR OF ASSESSMENT.
