This Mother’s Day, we honor the resilient women in the stateless community. In over 20 countries, mothers are still denied the equal right to pass their nationality to their children which creates a life of invisibility for the next generation. ✨

At Stateless Rights Collective, we stand with every mother fighting for her child’s right to belong. Identity is a birthright, and a mother’s voice should be enough to secure it. 💗🌷

Last week, members of the "Stateless Rights Collective", were present in the Senate to share their lived experiences and urge policymakers to refrain from criminalizing unlawful residence.

For stateless and undocumented individuals, this decision extends beyond legislative change. 𝐈𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 & 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. 🏥📚🛡️

In reaching this decision, the Senate has affirmed the 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲.
𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥. It demonstrates that when affected communities engage and make their voices heard, 𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐝. 🗣️🔥

This outcome follows sustained efforts over recent months, including public demonstrations, dialogue with Members of Parliament, and widespread organizational engagement. 𝐖𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭. 🤝🧡

While this development marks important progress, significant concerns remain. The implementation of the “𝐭𝐰𝐨-𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦," alongside broader European migration policies, continues to pose risks to the rights & futures of many individuals seeking protection.

We remain committed to advocating, fostering solidarity, and working toward 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 & 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲. 🌍

Yesterday, SRC members went to the Senate and spoke with politicians who will vote next week on the new & strict asylum laws.
They spoke out against the proposed laws, calling them inhumane, unjust and unworkable. They argued that everyone deserves a dignified life and warned that the measures would criminalize people without residence papers including families, elderly individuals and long-term contributors to society preventing them from participating in daily life.
The laws would be especially harmful to "Stateless" people living in the Netherlands, increasing fear of detention and making it harder for them to prove their status or pursue legal procedures.

In the Netherlands, one of the biggest obstacles stateless people face is simply being recognized. Without nationality, access to basic rights becomes a daily struggle from education and healthcare to stable work.

A fundamental right many take for granted?
