So, it is official, I am a midwife!! 🤩💃🎉
Four years of studying, 42 weeks of internships in total, all over the Netherlands from Friesland den Haag to Geel in Belgium, countless hours of sitting in the car in the darkness, riding back and forth from Amsterdam to Turnhout, lot of great mentors from whom I could learn and most importantly -by my estimation - around 400 women and their families who were kind enough to allow me to learn from their questions during prenatal check-ups, through supporting them during their birth and beyond. A bachelor in midwifery, cm laude, what a journey this had been!
Next up is to arrange all the paperwork and stock up on the essentials to be able to step into the work field. Oh and then look for a job 😜

It looks (and is) very real! 3 more awesome weeks as midwife in training by .nl 🤰👶
Such a great experience, being able to learn from all of you!
Just got home from a very quick birth, where there was even time for me to provide a little entertainment once I accidentally opened the massage shower heads in the bathroom on my face, haha, covering myself -this time not with amniotic fluid- just with clear water. If my pants could tell stories 🤣👖.

👩🏫 Another milestone reached yesterday, we had the very last day at school with lessons and lectures. The rest what comes from now are the internships, a couple of assignments, our thesis and a practical exam in June. Still a lot to do before I can graduate 🙃
It feels very strange that it has been 4 years already when it all started. I remember the very first day, we were around 45 or so in one of the classrooms, we are no more than 15 now, from the original group that started in 2021.
4 years of studying, learning a lot, getting to know lovely people, freaking out about the exams, stressing ourselves out each semester while waiting for the grades to come online, eating actually pretty ok salads from the cafeteria are all coming to an end.
Btw,, and the fake belly is really heavy! 🤰😉

🧘♀️After almost 9 years of giving prenatal yoga classes by today I am giving my last class.
👩🏫In the coming months I am going to be busy with internships for my midwifery studies and I don't know yet what kind of schedule and work I will have once I graduate. So for now I am stopping with this part of my work that has been so much fun.
🤰I have learnt so much from those lovely people coming to my classes and I am so happy I could empower them through yoga.
🌷I am not really saying goodbye because I am still here to fill in as needed and who know what the future might bring!
The first picture was taken in 2016 before my very first class, the last one just today. 🙏

👩⚕️🩺Just finished a 3 week internship at 🏥
What a great team, who all let me learn and experience the care of low/high risk babies. I say it here one more time because I think it is extremely important; it makes a huge difference if mentors are creating a safe environment to learn in. I am so greatful for that! 🙏🌷

Today starts a new year under the sun. 🎂
This is going to be the year when we mark the 10th anniversary of moving to the Netherlands (still a very good division we made) and also the year when I am going to graduate as a midwife. 👩🎓
Lots of new challenges are coming, first to tackle is finding a hospital internship in the Netherlands 🏥 🇳🇱 🤞🤞🤞
So it seemed fitting to start this new year with a challenge, dipping into the ice cold IJ, which is clearly documented on the second picture. 🤣 Although it looks like it was generated with AI if you count my legs and arms... it was not.
Had a great time at the and at .
So i am taking inspiration of my character ✨ who is just blasting obstacles in her way with a guiding bolt. Let's rock this 45!

✨This is where the magic happens!✨
You have given birth a couple of days ago and your whole body hurts, even body parts you never even know they existed. You pour your heart out to love and nurture this new little being who has just joined your family. It is such hard work, the responsibility, the lack of sleep, the mental and physical switch that is happening.
I know you are doing your best!
💆♀️What I also now is that a massage during these days can do wonders. It takes away stress from your body and mind, it relaxes you and gives you 1.5 hours to just BE.
I know what your body and soul needs in this very emotional period in your life!
🏠 I come to your home to give you this massage, taking the time so if a feed comes in-between we can wait. No rush, allowing you to feel completely at ease.
✅You can book this massage in and around Amsterdam.
Price: €167
You can also receive this massage if you have give birth through a Cesarean.

One of the most interesting and beautiful places we saw during our hiking/train vacation this summer through England and Scotland was Loch Ness - can you see Nessie actually showed up just when this photo was taken? Miraculous, right? :) ✨🦕
So now back to work and study mode, last year in midwifery school, giving a lot of massages, taking doula clients and enjoying the mix of it all.
