South Georgia Toothfish South Georgia Toothfish is a cod-like benthopelagic fish found in cold deep water at depths of up to 2000 metres.

Georgia Seafoods is a Falklands fishing company, based in Stanley, specialising in low impact fishing in fisheries that are committed to maintaining strong standards of conservation. South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands are a small group of islands forming part of the Scotia Ridge, an underwater bridge linking the Antarctic Peninsula to South America”. Our Toothfish is MSC certified and WWF-listed.

While it was nice and warm and sunny in Stanley, offloading the RossSea is still done at Antarctic temperatures. Thankfully being well wrapped and swapping over every hour lessens the burden.

Tronio recently visited Stanley for offload of RossSea MSC toothfish from inside CCAMLR. A few days of sorting/weighing/verifying with a bit off downtime for Tronio crew. Thanks to all involved for the smooth operation.

Whilst we have finished our Christmas festivities, the Tronio is still very busy fishing Antarctic toothfish in the Ross Sea. They enjoyed a very good meal, but the work carried on regardless. Hats off, and all the best for 2019 to Master and Crew.

Having fished toothfish for a few days in one region of the Ross Sea, it is now time for Tronio to move onto the next area further South. Thanks to the excellent skills by Master and Crew all without mishaps.

One of the most popular methods of preparing Toothfish is to coat bite size portions in a miso based sauce before grilling. The miso adds a deep earthy flavor to the fish. Here Japanese chef Akira Oshima uses a traditional charcoal grill to bring this deep water fish up to ground level.
