Spain 🇪🇸 has plenty to celebrate. And so do its Allies. 😎

Today, we salute an Ally that has been part of the team since 1982. And Spain brings much more than a flag to the table.

Spanish fighters have helped protect Baltic skies. In Torrejón, NATO’s Combined Air Operations Centre oversees NATO Air Policing south of the Alps. ✈️

Different corners of Europe. One shared commitment to keeping our skies secure. 💪

¡Feliz Fiesta Nacional, España! 🇪🇸

Today in the heart of Sittard, 80 reservists of the 30th Infantry Battalion were sworn in. During this ceremony soldiers make a promise to pledge their loyalty to the king, obey the laws, and submit to military discipline.

Our commander, who as a young German soldier also took his oath in the Netherlands at the barracks of Budel in the Summer of 1985, attended the ceremony alongside the Governor of Limburg and the Mayor of Sittard.

In his speech, General Ingo Gerhartz highlighted the special role reservists have in our society: “You hold civilian jobs, you raise families, and you are active members of your communities here in the south. But you chose to do more. You chose to step forward and wear a uniform.” In today’s security environment, their commitment matters more than ever.

Resevists have deployed to Joint Force Command Brunssum multiple times because guarding and securing our home ground is the foundation of our entire collective defence.💪
