Elke vrijdag en zaterdag van 10.00 - 17.00 uur Boerderijtuin in Espel van Wies Voesten.

Bladkleur, -vorm en -structuur spelen hier een belangrijke rol. Bijzondere plantencollecties in uitgekiende kleurrijke en harmonieuze borders.

This old fashioned Monkshood is a wonderful late flowering hardy perennial with great deep violet-blue, hooded flowers, which are loved by all kind of insects. The strong thick stems have attractive green shiny leatherly leaves. Monkdhood prefers a half shady place and there it will reach a height of 180 cm.
But.......... be careful with these Aconitumplants: leaves, stems and roots are very poisonous….........

For over 15 years I planted some Anemone x hybrida 'Crispa'/’Lady Gilmore’: wonderful compact plants with great curly and deeply crisped apple-green leaves, which looked like parsley. The plants flowered from August to October in a wonderful two-toned deeply pink. Now after years the crispy, parsley-like leaves have turned into ‘normal’ Anemone-leaves, and the flowers are not that deeply pink anymore. But every year this great Anemone has lots of strong branching stems with dozens of buds/flowers blooming from June till the first frost in November, reaching a height of 80 cm. and ………….this Anemone is not even invasive.................

This great Japanese Anemone has wonderful coloured flowers which are pink at the inside and with 'two coloured' petals at the back: pink and purple-pink. The plants have lots of branching stems with so many buds and flowers, which appear from the beginning of August to November, I guess . Anemone love a half sunny place and will grow up to over 1 meter: can be (a little) invasive..............

Great long flowering Aster with a 'warm' pink color and a wonderful yellow heart which slowly turns red end of October. Flowering from September to November. Also very attractive to all kind of insects. Reaches a height of 1.50 m. And, this great Aster Bea's Beauty is also very good resistance to powdery mildew...............

Wonderful Aster with great bright, light purple-blue flowers. Flowering from August till November. Attractive to butterflies and all kind of other insects. Is growing well on a sunny place and reaches a height of 80 cm here. And, very inportant to me: good resistance to powdery mildew..................

This great Oenethera versicolor 'Sunset Boulevard' seems to like it in our garden: not very hardy, but every year we find several seedlings of this 'Evening Primrose'. Beautiful orange to red flowers are blooming from June to November. In top of the stems you see a cluster of buds and flowers. Every flower is only blooming for about 2 days: they open in the afternoon and close in the morning. The stems have wunderful lance-shaped green leaves. Sunset Boulevard likes a sunny well drained place and grows upright to a height of 60 cm. (overhere) ............

I love this fast growing subshrub Phygelius 'African Queen'. It's flowering all summer till the first frost, with hundreds of great Penstemon-like reddish orange flowers with lemon-yellow throats. In our garden they are growing on several places against the wall and they've reached a height of over 2.50 meter. In mild winters our Phygelius are even 'evergreen'..................

This Colutea media 'Copper Beauty' or Bladder Senna also is a great shrub. It has reached a height of over 2.50 m., with lots of beautiful orange-coppery pea-shaped flowers followed by remarkable large inflated seed pods. It blooms from end of May to October. This is a scrub of which we can admire flowers and seed pods at the same time. The little leaves are grayish green. The scrub is hardy over here.................
