On the occasion of World Sloth Bear Day, we are pleased to unveil a conservation poster designed to inform communities about sloth bears, their ecology, the threats they face, and their conservation needs. This knowledge product is part of our ongoing sloth bear conservation project in the Triyuga Forest of Eastern Nepal.
The Triyuga Forest is one of the largest remaining patches of lowland forest outside the protected areas in Nepal. Our previous efforts in the region focused on investigating habitat use, human-bear conflict, and the conservation implications for sloth bears. With the support of Bears in Mind, we are now launching on-ground conservation activities to protect the last refuge of sloth bears in the eastern Churia hills.
