After amending the Article 219 Clause 3(a) of the National Penal code in 2075, life imprisonment can be sentenced in Nepal to convicted ra**sts. However, it can't be sentenced in all the cases. The punishment depends on nature of case and age of the victim.

With the rise in protests in the nation against the surging r**e cases, an ordinance was presented that demands to change the definition of R**e to include adult men, male children and members of LGBTQ+ community and to increase the punishment for r**e.

With the recent surge in the cases of r**e in Nepal, several young activists have taken to the streets to protest and raise awareness about r**e. In the light of the most recent incident, a flash mob chanting the anthem of Nepali version of "A ra**st in your path" several people have started talking about r**e and lack of a proper system to tackle it. Several activists, social commentators and influencers have done their part in raising awareness among their audience. We, at nava, have analyzed some of the cases and made a video trying to explain the current situation.
