Building on the success of the first cohort of 25 women Public Transport Operators (PTOs) trained by ’s partner, Aloi, we are pleased to announce that the second cohort has commenced.

This activity aims to enhance women’s participation in Nepal’s public electric vehicle sector through skills development and support women PTOs in transitioning from 3-wheelers to 4-wheeler electric vehicles (EVs).

The Sustainable Electric Transport for Nepal (SET4NPL) Project is financed by the Mitigation Action Facility and implemented by GIZ Nepal and GGGI.

This week, SET4NPL team (GIZ Nepal and GGGI) convened for a two-day Strategic Roadmap Workshop to review key learnings, strengthen collaboration, and identify strategic actions to accelerate sustainable electric mobility in Nepal.

Sustainable Electric Transport for Nepal (SET4NPL) is financed by the Mitigation Action Facility and implemented by GIZ Nepal and GGGI.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Malle Fofana as Deputy Executive Director and Head of the Green Growth Implementation Directorate at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).

In 2025 alone, GGGI achieved close to 20 percent insitutial growth against a backdrop of significant global uncertainty and Dr. Fofana has been central to that momentum. He led the global portfolio mobilizing USD 4 billion in green investment commitments and supporting the adoption of 81 green growth policies across more than 50 countries, while ensuring continuity through a period of leadership transition.

He will oversee GGGI’s global portfolio of nearly 300 active projects spanning climate finance, policy frameworks, cities and infrastructure, food systems, energy, and natural landscapes, as well as emerging areas such as carbon markets, AI, and hydrogen.

Dr. Fofana also becomes the first leader from Africa to serve on GGGI’s Executive Team, underscoring our commitment to being deeply rooted in the countries and regions we work with, and to advancing inclusive, country-driven green growth solutions worldwide.
