"All Nepal National Free Students' Union declares complete Solidarity with Jammu Kashmir National Students Federation"
Solidarity Letter from ANNFSU
The All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) strongly condemns the recent blasphemy charges against two young activists, Arslan Shani and Asma Batool, in Pakistan-administered Jammu Kashmir (Azad Jammu Kashmir, AJK). These charges are clearly intended to suppress the voices of those fighting against injustice, following their leadership in the People’s Rights Movement, which successfully won the right to affordable electricity for millions in the region. The weaponization of blasphemy laws to silence dissent is a dangerous tactic reminiscent of past dictatorships and must be resisted.
We stand in unwavering solidarity with the Jammu Kashmir National Students Federation (JKNSF) and the Revolutionary Students Front (RSF) in their demand for justice. We call for the immediate release of Asma Batool, the dropping of all false charges against both activists, and an end to state-sponsored oppression and the use of religious fundamentalists to target revolutionary youth. The youth of Jammu Kashmir must not be intimidated or silenced by such undemocratic actions.
ANNFSU urges the government of AJK and the federal government of Pakistan to cease these retaliatory measures and respect the democratic rights of their people. We appeal to the international community and human rights organizations to raise their voices against this injustice and support the struggle of the oppressed masses for freedom, dignity, and democracy.
