7th May: It was a privilege to meet Dr.Pema Gyamtsho, the Director General of ICIMOD today with my NACG Nepal colleagues this afternoon.
ICIMOD is the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), an intergovernmental knowledge and learning centre working on behalf of the people of the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) and working with the eight regional member countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan.
The discussions covered the work of our respective institutions with special focus on the importance of mainstreaming child rights, child participation and the opportunities of the CRC Committees General Comment 26 on Children’s Rights and Environment with Special Focus on Climate Change. We also discussed ICIMOD’s activities including their focus on GEDSI and the opportunities for convergence with SAIEVAC/NACG mission for children.
We thank the DG and ICIMOD for the very encouraging, positive and forward looking discussions.

28/4/26: First meeting with the new Government in Nepal.
Had a very productive briefing and discussion with H.E Sita Badi, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens accompanied by Mr.Chakra Buda, Joint Secretary/SAIEVAC Governing Board Member,GoN, Ms.Writu Bhatta Rai, Chair, NACG Nepal and Mr. Noor Jung Shah, Coordinator.
The discussions covered Progress pertaining to SAIEVAC and the upcoming CRC Reporting process for Nepal. Very encouraged by the Minister’s commitment and support.

23/4: Concluded a very intense but productive and forward looking Executive Committee Meeting of the NACG EVAC India.
The ECM among others covered issues pertaining to election/nomination of Thematic Leads and State Convenors, Adoption of the Charter, Timeline and modalities for the Election of the Chair and Office bearers and National Children’s Consultation.
I also had an opportunity to brief the ECM on the CRC reporting process for Asia and in particular the SAARC Member states.

22/4: Had a very exciting meeting with Ms.Anju Pun (L), Country Director, Forget Me Not Nepal and Ms.Dikshya Thapa (R) Community Engagement Manager, Global Foundation of Care Fellows by Experience and Member of the Shine Together, a network of Care Experienced Young Peoples.
The discussions covered among others, the work of the Care Experienced networks in Nepal and Asia, the ongoing efforts and successes in instituting Foster Care System in Nepal, the Malaysia BICON and the opportunities presented for advocacy/lobby presented by the upcoming CRC Reporting for Nepal.
